Seeing how evaporust does on the extra, rusted 1/4" MIP 1008 kit. The rust isn't that bad but if I can get rid of it I'd like to. Looks like one of the fluid packs (thread lock maybe) busted in the bag about 10 years ago:

You can pick up new GPM(?) nose plates for the gt on ebay which will work. I think I seen silver, blue, purple, and red annodized over the weekend. No factory AE black of course unless you wanna pay out the nose...

I saw the blue GPM one... there's like a factory bare one on eBay as well I've considered since it would be the only aluminum part on the truck?

I pulled the CVDs out and the rust came right off... as I expected the finish came off a little too. They're now a silver color whereas before they had like a black outer coating that was more like the finish on a stove burner than a paint? That said - is there a coating I should attempt to stick back on top of these to prevent rust? I was trying to avoid wd40 that attracts all sorts of first and dust... I've heard people talk about using stuff on guns to reblack or reblue the barrels? Is that something you can get and rub on?

Picked up an RPM transmission that I'm planning on dying black... in the listing it actually looked white. It as it turns out it looks to have been previously dyed light grey. I'm assuming dying black won't be an issue? I was planning on using Rit dye but am certainly open to anyone's expert advice here!

Crap did not realize they made multiple versions?! So I clearly messed that up! Whats the oval ration vs truck ratio?

Gray case is a 1.96 and the white truck case is a 2.65

So does that work like an actual car? Lower gearing = higher top end?

It just lets you run more realistic pinion and spur combos.
The white case is better for truck tires, it's a deeper internal ratio

Lower ratio number ( :1 ) is higher top speed given the same gearing externally
