Re: Losi LRM Ball Bearing Differential
Just picked up a Thorp set myself. Looks like it come with everything but the outdrive gears. I'm assuming the stock side gears are compatible.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Re: Losi LRM Ball Bearing Differential
Anthony, can you clarify this statement above. I received the Thorp gears off ebay, a standard bearing fits in the right half but is not quite flush, but darn close. I see what you are saying if you had two standard bearings it would work with the center ball bearing gear as that not quite flush gives you the clearance for two standard bearings.aconsola wrote:
For the Thorp kit it depends what you actually have. you either use one standard bearing with the early parts, or 2 standard bearings if you have the later parts. Measure the right outdrive recess, or put a standard bearing in. if bearing is flush it is same as stock losi, if it is sunk down in a little then you can stack 2 bearings for a bb diff
Did Thorp make a BB center gear, the eBay ones are not. Would you use the Losi center BB gear and thorp halves with two standard bearings? I do not see why you could not mix the materials.

Re: Losi LRM Ball Bearing Differential
I'm sure you can match whatever fits together. I think really, the diff gear is the only 'weak' part, so that in aluminum should get you a darn near bulletproof setup.

Re: Losi LRM Ball Bearing Differential
the diff half on the left is the thorp part from the 5110 transmission kit. it has a deeper recess so the pictured standard size bearing sits down inside. the right is a standard losi diff half with a standard bearing. I'm sure you can mix and match materials
These are the thorp aluminum bearing diff gears available as gear only or in the whole kit:
