This is an indoor clay track, correct? I can imagine huge spikes wouldn't work well. I used to run some waffles on my optima back in the day maybe those would hook up....
I have the worlds ugliest turbo optima coming my way- this is bout to turn into a build thread!

Haven't recieved the 1st one yet and I already have #2 coming my way. What does one do with two turbo optimas? Build one out of the choicest parts and sell the rest, or build a classic ride -and- a updated carbon fiber retro-super turbo optima?

You can do a lot of cool, very different things with two Turbo Optimas. Check the builds in my signature...all you need to ask yourself is, "How far do I want to go?"

It's a good day when two turbo Optimas arrive at your door.
The first is in decent shape, original and almost all there. It will need to be cleaned up and I have some tires on the way for it. This will be the classic racer.
The second was a gamble, I cold emailed a guy from a google result a few years back and he was willing to sell. May I present.... the worlds ugliest Turbo Optima
Oh, but what's this? Where my chain at
This will become the experimental 4wd class rig to see if I'll be able to run with the XX4s and Yokomos (I won't

). I will throw carbon fiber and velvet shocks at it and see what sticks. I'm pretty excited about this one- stay tuned. I welcome any input, esp. from the experts on here- it's been a long time since I've been elbow deep in an Optima.

the belted one would be the car i'd want to run in classics. IIRC, it uses a optima mid belt in diffs.

Right...and there's no need to install velvet shocks. Kyosho Golds are already among the best shocks you could install on that car, and you already have 'em. And it's great that it already has the belt drive conversion. As for ugly Optimas...I've seen a LOT uglier!

What a nice surprise finding the belt in there! This is going to be exciting!

Weird ESC that came with belty. Looks old school, sealed aluminum enclosure. Are these desireable at all? The only info I can find is about some models that the clod/pullers like because they're good for 32 cells and 4 motors

Now that I have two piles that look like this I'm seriously reconsidering whether I want to build two of these blasted things. Dear god they are a pain to work on

. I'm going to assemble the classic racer with the chain drive, and the pick of the parts- and I guess we'll see how the orphan ends up. As far as motors go I have a Superstock 34 and a 360ST to choose from, which will be closer to the Tamiya handout for tuning purposes?

I've got a serious problem- two more rollers coming my way. Looks like I won't have to pay Fireboy prices to get the parts I need for these two builds. The classic racer is going to be something special....

Ha! Yeah, bypassing Fireboy is good for your sanity and your wallet. Lol

When I look at what I paid him for camber link hangers vs what I just paid for the load I'm about to bring in, I want to kick myself

. You win some and lose some I suppose...

I give thanks to the Kyosho gods for the bounty that has been provided.
O
Highlights include a very fresh set of plastics (arms, gearboxes, bumper etc.) obviously the gold chassis and nerfs, universals, another belt drive setup and a nice set of shocks. The red piece is a front brace, maybe Hot Trick? I'll probably reserve the nice plastics for spares, to be used once one of the racers is retired.
