Re: Tamiya Mountain Rider
So will we see Companies releasing other rare models...Vanning/Landjump etc? Or what about restarting long gone companies like Delta or PB? Those are costly cars and very rare...

Delta never left, just the rc industry. If there were money in it I bet you could get them back. Dave Campbell is a member here
I doubt you will see a Vanning, we will be lucky to see an Optima!

Re: Tamiya Mountain Rider
I agree these re-releases have killed the collector market, at least value-wise. I collect for my own pleasure however regardless of what the collection is worth. From a profitability standpoint, Tamiya did the right thing. They could have simply continued to produce new models and left the collector market alone. Instead they did both by making new models as well as adding re-releases to the line up. They did it at the right time too, just as the folks that remember these cars the first time around were becoming nostalgic for them (thanks in no small part to ebay). Now we have money for the cars we pined for as kids. As a business, why wouldn't Tamiya tap into the nostalgia market? The originals aren't profiting Tamiya. I agree, this re-release market will come to an end. They will either run out of old desirable kits to re-release or the fad will run its course and end. But hey, at least Tamiya made a nice chunk of change while the market was going strong instead of just watching the nostalgia wave pass them by. The nostalgia market wouldn't repeat itself in the future regardless if Tamiya entered it or not. Its only hot now thanks to those of us who lived in the heyday of the 80's. New people to the hobby won't be collecting 30 years from now because RC as a whole is dying. Kids just aren't into it. I don't foresee the Traxxas Maxx trucks bocoming collectable in the future by the kids of today. They're just RTR toys to the average kid who tries ramming it into a tree or jumping a house with it etc. etc. Lastly, remember RC is a small part of Tamiya's business. Plastic models are their true passion.
