I was able to replace the standard spur with a Durango one and slipper pads by putting a bearing in the centre of the spur. to get the slipper to lock down properly I had to put a 4mm washer up against the outer slipper plate to make up for the narrower spur gear

Can you clarify your spur/slipper setup? Did you also use the Durango slipper and pads, along with the Durango spur?

What size bearing was required?

Also, for the washer... was that a 4mm spacer, or 4mm OD washer?

If this is s successful setup, I'd be interested in doing the same on a future runner.

Hey mate. its a Durango 87T spur and Durango slipper pads. the 4mm is inner diameter, the shaft diameter is 4mm so you don't want the washer flopping around, the outer diameter is 11mm as you need the washer to be wide enough for the spring washers. The bearing is 4mm inner diameter and I think 8 or 9 mm outer (will confirm)

and the slipper plates are just the standard kyosho ones. the other benefit of a setup like this is you get more spur choices, by the looks of it, Schumacher spurs could work in a similar way. This sort of setup should work on a lazer too from what I can see.

That may have been me on the Oople forum. I've since gotten my hands on a NIB Triumph but wouldn't mind building up a second all carbon runner, the chassis is easy to get at the moment but that may change down the track and front shock tower only ever seen one. I'm not sure till it lands if my NIB Triumph has the FRP or Kelron shock towers

Also got a Triumph N.I.B (with FRP towers). Maybe it will be built one day :)

I'm already itching to build it!

Wait, so there were two different materials used for the shock towers? I'm pretty sure mine are FRP. Also, did some versions come with universals instead of dogbones?

There was indeed two different materials for the towers. Same art numbers I believe. Here's a pic I borrowed from Ebay showing the kelron plastic version. One can clearly see the rounded marks from the mold process.

Yuck. I wonder if that was a running change. I definitely have the FRP towers.

ok firstly great thread, mainly because i just got my hands on a new partially built TRIUMPH.. the car has been sitting in a roof unfinished so the seller says.. i got the car and seems the story stated seems true.. the car had been started but so much was built wrong i dismantled it and started again.. after completing it the only things missing are the front wheels and tires and body.. the body i have found at TBG but the front wheels....that is a different story..

so can the original wheels be sourced anywhere??? or what other wheels will fit..?? i know there was another thread that said HPI wheels, but does anyone have part numbers??

the car seems very unique in the way it tackled rear toe and a gearless gearbox.( love the dual belt drive ) the car overall seems quite simple but effective... but seeing this is brand new i can't bring myself to drive it...so i'm thinking a driver might need to be found..lol

Just reading this thread again I was wondering if it would be possible to use the alternate slipper setup on a Lazer ZX-R MKII seeing as they ran the same spur and slipper pads as the Triumph

Two great questions. I think you can use RB5 rear wheels. For the front, you may have to use an imperial axle to get maybe B3 wheels? The problem is nothing modern is going to fit that 4mm front axle.

As for the slipper, what is the "alternate" setup?

I just meant the Durango slipper setup

I haven't actually done it on the zxr I have no doubt the slipper setup would work the same

as for front wheels on the triumph, I used tamiya dt02 front rims and bought bearings with 4mm inner diameter for the axel and I think 10mm outer for the wheel

Rears I used team C / ansmann rims

Is it possible to mount an Ultima transmission to a Triumph chassis?
