Just a thought, I have the sherline lathe but no super precision parts like the rotary head. The thing is that these can be reproduced by a master machinist or simply with a help of a CNC setup.
I love the front 5-spoke wheels. I have 2 sets of those (fronts & rears) for my OptiMutt car. You don't see that design very often.

Thanks Coelacanth, and you are lucky to have a full set!! YES those wheels I got when I bought a huge parts lot from this guy a few months back. It really struck me how well it was machined. So cool and real looking. I am going to be torn between this and the Tamiya fronts I have so I will swap them depending on my mood. For the rears, the gearhead slots work best for me so I am satisfied with just getting the front pairs of the 5 spoked wheels. Any idea who made them and when. I would like to see your set

Ron, they were made by JPS; links to my car projects are in my signature.

Thanks Coelacanth!
Man they are SHINY
I AM ALWAYS CURIOUS TO FIND THE HISTORY BEHIND THSES COOL VINTAGE PARTS, Thanks for the infor!!!
I think someone in another topic mentioned JBS, they are still in production, well if not them then some other company - they had slot wheels, I contacted them but no replay. Yes these are still there and very hard to get at. Sadly most of the vintage RC stuff have been lost or trashed. could you recommend a very low profile tire to fit this rim, I am thinking its a 2" or 2.1" wheel. Right now it has O-rings around it, perfect thinkness, If I can get a tire that thin and with that low profile. I am trying to get a hot rod/gasser look to the beetle with these wheel and tire setup.

You're right they are nicely machined. I have a few of their wheels for my Vehicles

Hi, guys. Just an update. I did try bargaining with John, but he is a tough negotiator! No luck with the thorp diff and I am gong to pass it at that price. I did however buy the crp axle. I know for a fact that in 2013 a guy from Germany had 2 NOS pairs of the axles. I was bidding in both the separate auctions. In the first one it went for around $90 and the sec - $130. So I bit the bullet and got it from John. Will post pics when I get it. Meanwhile I will keep looking for the diff on eBay

That's crazy on those axles. I recall them selling for $15-20 on eBay a few years ago
