Re: Who likes coffee?
Black these days, I used to like one cream, then 1 sugar 1 cream, now black. Not sure why I changed. Anyway this crap you buy in stores, even the brand name coffees are absolute garbage. You see, I have been spoiled! When you have the best nothing is the same, you always crave the best, and that is Blue Mountain coffee! I have tried some from the gourmet shops here. I'm sure they blend it with crap lowland coffee, it's just not the same. All the others just taste like roasted goat turds now! The good stuff all goes to Japan!

Re: Who likes coffee?
I'm so jealous! Maui is my home away from home. I've been there twice. Been there before? Just curious. Now the rest of my day is shot because I'm thinking of Maui...Orange wrote:I'm going to Maui in April.... I will be bringing some coffee home with me,
You said Hawaiian... made me think of that!
But I take my coffee with as much cream and sugar as will dissolve in it.

Re: Who likes coffee?
i prefer a percolator. real blue mountain coffee, or locally roasted (new england) columbian.
the thing with blue mountain is it's so smooth it almost tastes week, but the caffine level is insane.
tough to find real blue mountain lately, most of the shops cut it with columbian. they claim customers got sick from straight blue.

Re: Who likes coffee?
I can't live without coffee and don't understand how people face the day without it. Maybe I have a problem
? Anyway, we used to live in New Haven, CT and had a great local coffee house called Willoughby's. We now live in California and now have it shipped to our house several times a year. For those who drink decaf, they have the best we have tasted. Also nice is that they sell it by the pound, not 10-12 oz bags like you get from grocery store.
As for how I take it, cream, no sugar. Used to drink it black util I met my wife who make me a cup with cream and that was that.

If we have the time to sit and enjoy a nice cup of locally roasted coffee, French Press is our favorite brew method. Kona is definitely one of our favorites!

Re: Who likes coffee?
I own more coffee making devices than RC10s!! hah!
Proper coffee from fresh roasted beans ain't ever bitter or caffeine loaded.
Bitterness comes from overextraction as does leaching out too much caffeine & acids.
Addicted to espresso... more specifically, I love crema... have been known to pull a
douleshot then just sip the top and toss the rest... reload, repeat!
If I haven't got time to warmup the Rancilio, then AeroPress isn't bad either.
The Bodums (aka frenchpress) have been retired to teas mainly.
Letting grounds continue soaking in your drink is bad, mmm'kay?
Unfortunately i live in the coffee capital of Southern Hemisphere, it's crazy around town.
More microroasters than I can have a different bean every day of the year,
them caffenistos are now into their colddrip & siphons, if not a Clover.
meh, I also love Malaysian Kopi...

Re: Who likes coffee?
I like mine black if its good fresh coffee, however if its the nescafe instant crap you get in big tins in the staff room/canteen I usually put some milk in.
....)
Well said Rod! Ive visited Jamaica 3 times and I always bring back some Blue mountain coffee and have toured one of the plantations (although that's maybe not the first crop they grow im interested inslotcarrod wrote:When you have the best nothing is the same, you always crave the best, and that is Blue Mountain coffee!

Re: Who likes coffee?
That's why we press and fill our cups. Whatever is left at the bottom with the grounds is tossed. The local roasters are great and they gave very specific instructions on how to get a cup of coffee to be as good as theirs.tamiya wrote: The Bodums (aka frenchpress) have been retired to teas mainly.

Re: Who likes coffee?
I like serious, gourmet $hit........... Dunkin Donuts flavored ground coffee from the grocery store.
We go through the french vanilla regularly and I enjoy their holiday flavors. The recent new flavors they introduced like jelly donut sounded awesome but were a big bust when we tried them.
I do appreciate the good stuff from coffee stores or niche places that sell upscale stuff (I prefer mild blends) but I gotta admit, the cheap Dunkin crap is what I drink 95% of the time! And with lots of cream and fake sugar.

When we lived in Connecticut, DD was our place of choice to visit when we were out and about. They just make a good cup of regular coffee. It stinks not having them here in southern CA.

Re: Who likes coffee?
I grind either Illy Cafe or Kenya AA beans and then use a French press. So good.
I might get one of these
