Phin wrote:What was the transmission ratio for the front gearbox? Looking at that pic of the MIP 4-10 internals I counted 33t on the one-way gear and what looks to be around 20t on the top shaft gear...though it's hard to get a good count on the top shaft from the pic. That would put the internal ratio at 1.65:1.

It also looks to be 18t on the MIPIT pulley so there's got to be some amount of overdrive/underdrive on the setup correct?

!9 tooth on the top shaft and 33 tooth differential gear.

Thanks for posting those pics. :)

Wow...that's a pretty significant difference in trans ratios then. ~1.74 in the front x 1.4 for the stealth top shaft and idler is 2.43:1.

Were the front and rear pulleys the same?

Gomachv brings up a pretty valid concern about the space issues you're going to run into using a Stealth diff gear. Assuming the gears in the MIP front gear box are 48p the diameter of the Stealth diff gear is going to be .25" larger. You're likely going to have to do what Gomachv did on his build and flip the front bulkheads and tower.

Here's the way I look at it, if Eustace could have used a readily available diff he probably would have. I know he went one-way, but using a standard size diff and then making an alternative one way would have been a better way if it fit. I think the compromise was already made by moving the nose forward, moving it to the truck length is next and that's a long wheelbase

i looked on ebay seams to have some gears/belts for the trans i think not all that keen on the 410 thing. i know they arent cheap but if u buy one could u remake the gear?? only reason i saying this is that iam willing to chip in some $$$ on orgiinal parts THAT IS if u can remake them. start a new thread asking to help fund this project along for members to donate some $$$ and the members who donate give them a special deal when the whole setup is done. :D i hope iam not out of line by saying this.

If the MIP top shaft is 3/16 OD, the Losi XXX series top shafts are 19t by memory..and the aluminum ones from the MF/BK series are very easy to lathe the shoulder off to create the correct spacing within the case- (I did that to one in order to mid-motor it for oval use)

I would like to use as many readily available parts to make the kit as easy to assemble and maintain as possible. Where this leads I'm not sure yet. But that kind of insight is very useful. Thanks

The cases came in today. I have just a few adjustments to do for the next one.

Took a pic with an idler in then one with the top shaft in. I'm going to have to figure out what to do for it.

About $28 shipped. About $6 shipping. So $11 a side. Not too bad but I plan on doing a few mods to brig it down a little bit. They charge by the cubic centimeter.
