That's probably about the most cost effective set-up that maintains quality. ESCs and motors under $40 new are iffy, IME. Be aware that the LiPo I recommended is fine for 2WD vehicles with moderate KV motors and appropriate gearing, but low on discharge if you're going to gear really high or use a high KV motor. I have 3 of those, and they've been great in my buggies using motors up to 4,000 KV and geared for ~30 MPH top speeds. I would not, however, even chance it in my 6-1/2 pound Prolite 4x4 with the 1/8 scale electronics, as these batteries are only rated with a 20-30C discharge. Likewise, if you were going to gear your truck to the moon or run something like a 4.5 turn motor, you'll want a pack with a much higher discharge rating.

I had already decided on that motor so I am glad you confirm that.


The hobbywing ESC I was on the border between that and a RTR associated take-out ESC.

The chargers... Well, they confuse me, so I will buy the one you recommended.

Finally the battery. My cousin runs 3s Lipo in his stock 4x4 slash. How do you think the 2s and a Reedy 3300 would fair on the straightaways? I know his truck is heavier and 4wd, so I'd think the lighter RC10T would hold it's own OK.

Watch your shipping with Hobbyking; it often negates the otherwise excellent prices. For instance, they had a great price on the Turnigy Nano-Tech 6,000 mAh 4S I was after ($64), but they wanted $18 in shipping. Pretty steep.

I would definitely go HW over HK on the speed control.

The B6AC should be a genuine from Hobbyking, while most on eBay are copies (cheap Chinese rip-offs of cheap Chinese products; industrious little b@$tard$). However, I've had no trouble with the B6AC knock-offs. Whichever route you go, do make sure it's the B6AC, not the B6; the latter requires a separate AC adapter or 12V power source.

I run the reedy 3300 and the turnigy 2s. It's wicked fast in my 10t. Although this is my first brushless set up, still can't give up my old brushed motors just yet. It's a light truck and it really surprised me how well the truck does handle the brushless. Haven't broken anything yet. It really is a blast to drive!!

I was on the fence about the Reedy ESC vs HobbyWing. Looks like Hobbywing will get the nod.

Also that charger is the one I had in my cart as well so it looks well recommended. The only thing I am going to do a little differently is I am going to order 1 2s and 1 3s.......JUST IN CASE!

Turnigy 3s AND 2s 500mah batteries.... Only 20 discharge rate, but I think they will be OK with my light 2wd truck.

You should be quite happy with that arrangement. Just remember to keep your gearing moderate on 3S. I have run 3S with the HW 60A, and it will take it, but not for long if you gear too steep. With the stock 87T spur, I would go no higher than 20 tooth, maybe 22 tooth pinion running 3S with a 3,300 KV. My buggy had the HW 60 in it for a time, and on the 3,300 Venom can with 24T pinion/81T spur, it hit 49 MPH. Yes, that's a taller gear ratio, but considerably smaller buggy tires.

My current 10T has a HW SC10 ESC with a HW 10 turn motor (3,900 KV), runs 33 MPH on 2S with 19/87 gearing.

Finally getting some much needed updates in here! I have progressed a lot. At this point I am ready for electronics and I can get it on the dirt!

Rear end assembled. Don't worry about the yellow dog bones. They will stay yellow, but with a much better paint job soon. I just threw a little paint on them to see how I liked them. That should help if they are lost in some grass.

At this point I have refilled all the shocks after cleaning and reassembly.

I also installed a Team blue screw kit and OEM new front bumper. It's starting to look like a truck now. The white wheels will be my "off-road setup" while I am going to get some street tires for the yellow wheels. Don't worry. The rear tires are only there for mock up purposes. I am trying to find some in my bag of tires to replace those with...




Here it is....a roller beside a truck I got from a buddy. I was going to use a few things off of it, but it's a Losi and so complete I don't want to take it apart(besides a couple e clips I stole off of it!) Anyone know what kind of car it is?

PS, yes. I know it's too high in the front. I have adjusted any of that, besides it will sit differently with the electronics and battery!

Losi truck looks like xxt if had more pics i could be more sure.If rear arm has an x in it xxtcr model and if 3 xxx in rear arm just xxt.We need to get together and bash sometime.don
