Do you guys know if the SG was sold under another name?

I think Robbe maybe in Germany?

I bought one like 15 years ago, real cheap thing with a friction pad that looked like sturdy velcro  .

In the middle of the chassis was a red stamp or mark that I believe was SG.
The body on the box was a BMW M1 but in the box was a schckee. I still have a couple random parts: the ones I didn't use for other projects.

By the way one of the japanese magazines visited ABC and made a nice overview of several of their older cars. Remind me in 2 weeks and I'll try to scan it at the office.

The SG Prosso was sold in Germany as a Robbe Prosso. In Germany in the early 80s just about anything r/c was sold under the distributors name, so all Kyosho cars were named Graupners and all the far eastern cars Robbe imported were all renamed as Robbe. had the unique idea of the plastic disc that interlocked with itself, so one piece bolted to the chassis and the other glued to the battery to keep the pack in place.

Pictures of the box as well as the car here

You nailed it terry; that's the one I had indeed.

Wish I hadn't cut up the body; wasn't half bad painted for my skills, and it would have been a good fit for the plazma 3P I just won.
