Re: #6002
You couldn't be more wrong. I have never cared about the dollar value of my collection because I never plan to sell any of my cars. I don't even sell the parts I've collected unless it is to help someone else out. There are far better "investments" one can make in life than RC cars. If I did care about profiting on RC cars, a re-re of the Worlds car would excite me because I could order several of them and then resell them on eBay like all of the other clowns trying to make a quick buck.mtbkym01 wrote:and this attitude pisses me off! As a collector, why do you care? Or is it because you think your investment (non collector) will drop in value? It doesnt change an original kit, and original is still, and always will be original. This type of discussion goes on and on, and from where I sit, the only people who are pissed off with re-re's, are those who think they are gonna make $$$ someday (again, non collector)
This more closely fits with my feelings.Lonestar wrote:I'm usually a fan of re-re's in general, regardless of the brand. But world-car wise, this time, I have mixed emotions for reasons I can't really explain. Maybe because rere-ing a true racing icon looks a bit like sacrilege...

Re: #6002
As far as creating a "vintage racing scene" it's a much better platform
None of this stuff will be collectable in 20 years, except to a small minority. The re-re influx is like yuppies on Harley's..they flock to something like sheep, play for a while and move on to whatever is next for the group. Some guys from that flock may become serious vintage enthusiast, but most won't, and as long as they enjoy it some it's all good.

I like it, but my wife won't.

Re: #6002
I see this 6002(and the Gold Tub) re re as an opportunity to experience the creme de la creme of the RC10 line.
I wish Honda could rerelease a RC161 replica or Porsche could rerelease the early 911...
We are in a unique position in RC to really actually enjoy the vehicles that we were once in awe of but could not obtain.
Collectors know what they have. This will not change the story behind that shrink wrapped box or respectfully displayed roller in a case.
Thanks to AE for doing something I can agree with.

Re: #6002
Since AE has deliberately made the re-re parts different and easily identifiable from the originals, I don't see how they affect the value of originals at all unless you are a person who is selling spare parts for crazy high prices. That's not collecting.

Re: #6002
They devalue them as a whole by offering alternative options to original parts, but to what is considered "collectors" it really just offers more geniune parts availability brought out of closets as the attention ramps up memories of parts you had at your folks place, and sell (lower prices because of increased volume) on eBay. But thats ok by me
Some guys built a safety net with RC10 parts values, which is being ripped up by re-res, as I'm sure may have happened with Tamiya stuff too.

Re: #6002
From what I understood, it was going to be a Team Car. Now they list a World's.... very interesting!

Re: #6002
Anyone want to guess on what this one will cost? I'm guessing $350.
