Got the proper camera out to take a couple of photos today. There are a couple of problems, firstly the front suspension towers are bent out of alignment meaning that the car would pull massively to the left. I'll have to remove them and hammer them straight though it seems that they interfere with the tub once the chassis rails get bent upwards at the front as they all do. Secondly there is way too much play in the dogbones and they'd be lost in minutes. I think I'll need a washer in between the trailing arms and the mounting posts. Any other suggestions welcome of course.

I've never had the fortune of owning a Scorpion, so I'm not too familiar with the design...it's quite similar to the AYK Buffalo/Bobcat chassis though (AYK definitely used the Scorpion chassis for their inspiration). Is there any adjustment to limit the up & down throw of the rear swing arms? Adding washers would only help a slight amount as they aren't doing much to change how much the arms swing down. If you could reduce the amount of downward "swing" by a centimeter or so, your dogbones would be more horizontal at rest/uncompressed, and much less likely to fall out.

Ran this buggy around the dining room yesterday. With all the original radio gear and batteries fitted the rear sags like a dog with worms but she goes! I think I've fit her with the diff from the Assault to replace the original spur gear but otherwise she is much less likely to be run outdoors than my old one from my other thread.
Currently stripping the body and wing and have ordered decals from Canada so she will get finished...ish.
In the photos she has the Beetle's dust cover fitted and the Assault rims for testing as the wheels need painting too. She's not perfect but she's all period including the front bumper from the Assault and that black tub cover which I've also had since 1988. You may notice that the old Futaba receiver is a bit short on antenna wire so we'll see how far it goes once I refit the wing and aerial guide.

Ordered a repro body and wing for this car last week. Got set of repro decals from Canada last year. I stripped and painted the rims but the silver didn't come up well despite some good base coats. Maybe I'll fork out for alloy rims!
