Might work for dimensions if you have a CNC person like Jake

Wouldn't work for the pin router method tho

That would be really cool. I'd like to see how accurate my drafted versions are. Even a scan would work if you have a scanner it would fit on.

Curious if anyone has made any progress on fabricating this chassis and offering them for sale?
I am for sure in for one .
Thanks!

Not yet....if someone can scan theirs and get it to j-Sou that would be a great start, or if anyone has a used one to lend out I can make a copy that way

I don't want a NIP one, it's just too risky between shipping, scratching, etc

Any luck in getting hold of a chassis Jeff?

I wouldn't mind one of these.

No but I can work off a tracing now or a scan... Just about anything!

Did anybody ever source a set to copy. Theres probably a few of us who can draw it up and or and cut it. The only issue I see is getting an original part set in hand.

Scans are not very exact. If a guy has the rest of the parts that match up and some dimensions, then its doable,, but best is to have the originals in hand and cad them up. Rectangular plates, with a bunch of holes,,, a very quick job!

Its very noble that you all want to copy a chassis that MIP made 30+ years ago. Most of the owners I know if not all will not allow there's to be scanned, traced or whatever. To much money & pure luck for some already spent, and much to rare and hard to find for others to justify.

Good luck finding your unicorn! Maybe Eustace will re release them for you. :P

It's a difficult thing for sure. Some are happy knowing theirs are original and want one they can run. Others see it as a way to pass a copy off as an original. We have people 3D printing the parts for these already, so at this point a reproduced chassis is just a matter of time. Be it me or someone else. I can totally see both sides for sure, but I don't see MIP wanting to do this so someone else will have to

so does everyone that wants one of these chassis' have all the other pieces they need? Are we talking about just that rectangular piece of g10?

I have all the necessary parts, I just wish I had a chassis.

I have a trace of that 4X chassis on a thin piece of cardboard. I traced it from a new in pack chassis I sold back in 2010. It has all the holes marked and slots. Don't know if that would work for you.

Same here. I can't bring myself to use a replica chassis on my 4x though. That's the one thing that's holding up my build! :(
