But honestly, I would be afraid to put up warning-style signs, because it actually becomes an invitation for the punk(s) to mess with you even worse...perhaps not theft, but vandalism and other shenanigans. Those punks who would break into someone's place to steal stuff evidently have no respect for anyone's property or authority, so why not make mischief and destroy other people's stuff?
Good point!, I never thought of that. The sign will come down

Hardwired alarm system installed myself (too many horror stories) with 4 cameras on my network and I can pull up a cam or all four from my phone at any time day or night.

Here's a nighttime pic

I just realized my house is a mess lol

Foscam? I just finished a similar set up. Being able to see my home anytime on my phone is awesome! Also have Control4 and can arm/disarm the alarm, turn lights on and off or dim, lock/unlock doors, adjust heat/ac, blaa blaa blaa. It's amazing what you can do from your phone these days!

We were more about gettin it done since we did all the wiring ourselves when the house was (re)built so we went swann. It will get swapped for much better in the future but it's solid and usable. Interface for playback is not user friendly but works when we need it to.

We wired the whole house with cat6 to futureproof, including the doorbell cam that I haven't seen yet but is apparently gonna be a hit lol.

For a very small house there is a lot of wiring going on!

Nothing wrong with Swann for residential use. I'm running the 8 camera DVR system, same online capabilities. Also can use PTZ remotely, but all of my cameras are fixed at the moment.

If I were running a jewlery store or gun shop with hundreds of thousands in inventory, I'd spend more for a better system. But this one has been excellent. OEM DVR hard drive crapped after about 6 months, but I was planning to upgrade from 500 gig to 2 TB anyway, and it was only $100 for the new drive that records an entire month on all 8 cameras at medium resolution. The rest of the DVR unit and all of the cameras have been going strong for 2 years now. Thought a camera died awhile ago, but turned out to be that a mouse had eaten through the cable.

I've been happy with the swann except the dvr portion. I have to keep telling myself it's not a computer but the interface is just so primitive. I have the 1tb unit with the 4 cameras and wouldn't mind adding a couple more also requiring a different dvr.
