I know what you mean Mike in the sense of gathering parts and then finishing up a project, especially a shelf type project. Never having the gene for collecting, I suppose a nice quality runner/racer type suits me more. Hate to have something sitting around that I get no use from other than just looking good.
That's the direction I favor now atleast.

Re: Who else feels this way?
You might just need to take a break. A little time away might awaken the passion again
The only car I felt done with with was my Tamiya Fox. It seemed like the chase for parts was more exciting than the actual build.
On some of my cars, while their built I feel like they could go a little further. I have a bag of parts slated to get installed when I get that wild hair
Just a couple of weeks ago I switched out the chassis on my tamiya porsche GT2 from the plastic one to and FRP one

Re: Who else feels this way?
Im just really into the building and collecting part then passing it on for someone else to enjoy. There are several cars i have done and sold here that i can see proudly displayed in the new owners showrooms here on this great site.

I sort of feel this way.. I had no desire to rebuild a team car untill I bought one... Now I am thinking of selling it myself.

Re: Who else feels this way?
For me I seem to be more about the hunt than anything else. Several years ago I made a list of all the cars I lusted after as a kid then thanks to this site I've added some others. Any way the list had about 60 cars I have found more than half of them in any state of repair and my work bench has about8 cars that need to be worked on but I'm still spending more time looking for the next car on the list. I have no plans to ever sell any but out seems I have little plans to ever finish any either.

Re: Who else feels this way?
I get that way myself...build it part way....wait for parts....change directions...build it some more....get the parts I wanted in the first place and change directions back because now I have the parts...look at the roller and think, how much will it sell for so I can find the next box of parts to inspire a new build.
I've kept a few cars, I usually fully set the up with electronics and race them a few times, rob the electronics for another car and set them to the side. Wait a little while and decide to move them on. Its a viscous cycle and one of the reasons I dont really dig deep and go for one of my personal "holy grail" cars. I would love to have a Pro Radiant, runner, so I could drop a mild set up in it and hit the track.

Re: Who else feels this way?
The site takes all kinds it seems. For me, I am nostalgic about all the old cars, even though all but a few, I only saw on other guy's workbenches and on the track. I built up a AE car, ran it a few times then sold it off. Then I did an Ultima (still have, andprobably won't let go!) I had a JRX almost done, but sent it off. Will I build naother '10...probably. AN x2....definately. Will I always keep all of them probably not.. The hunt, and the build are really fun, but I always preferred racing to "bashing". My BIGGEST frustration is not haveing a place (or really the time) to race like I used to when I was a single guy, no kids, and plenty of expendable income. I don't quite know why, but just driving my car in circles of figure eights just doesn't do much for me. I'm seriously considering dumping all of my electronics to focus on building chassis, for that 1 day in th future when I can either do a makeshift track and race the kids, or I have the time to race at a real track again.

Re: Who else feels this way?
I could never sell any of my cars. For one thing, I have no idea how I could put a price on all the research, trial & error, fabbing and modding that went into each one, and if I *did* come up with a price that seemed fair to me, nobody else would come close to paying it. Giving my brother back his Marui Galaxy that I put all that time resto-modding was just about too difficult, but at least it was his, not mine.
