Yeah, they have the universals, but by the time you buy them and pay $10 to ship something that should cost $2, I will have over forty bucks in them.

Maybe your local hobby shop carries kyosho. Have them order them.

FYI. The manual says W5061 for universals

Got it to the point to where I need to paint. Sorry fellas, no step build on this one. Just wanted to sit down and enjoy a build.

I will say that the moulded plastics in this kit are top notch. No cleanup or hand fitting necessary. The Kyosho golds are the smoothest, no wonder they were popular. The only trouble I ran into was the turnbuckle ball ends. They split when I was therading them together. No big deal, the current ball ends are exact replacements for the old ones. Got em sent to me in a coupla days.

The Boxart shows short springs on the front shocks. Mine are a mid length. I would have preferred short due to the lack of adjustability with the longer springs. Collar all the way up, still a little too high of a ride height. All in all, a relatively trouble free build.

Best handling 2wd kyosho ever.

Mine handled very plush. Made a different sound than most cars too with the belts in the transmission. Tons of fun and a pretty good jumper compared to my old Ultimas.

I am heartened to hear people say the buggy handled well. Everything I've read in the past indicated the triumph was a poor handling car which is why is had just a limited run and kyosho hurried along the "Triumph pro" which ultimately became the Pro-x when it went for sale

I've picked up a triumph to race in our vintage racing here in Australia so im looking forward to giving it a run soon

Chris Moore won alot of races here in the states with that car, and was even in the a-main @ the ROAR nationals with it. I htink properly tuned the car will be just fine. BTW He did a stealth tranny in it @ the nationals. -Jeff

What's the bone length of those universals? 3Racing makes CVDs for the Lazer series in various lengths, 65.5, 68 and 73mm would be the most likely candidates. I've bought them for as low as $14.99 a pair.

Ive had a pro x , triumph, and ultima rb for kyosho 2wd buggies. The ultima rb seemed most effective on hard pack indoor clay where the suspension geometry could effect handling almost like an on road car. The pro x was slightly better in rough conditions. The triumph was very plush and handled rough conditions best of the 3. It was best before exceeding the limit of traction, and seemed to hold traction a bit longer than the other 2. The rb being a bit twitchy and ready to over steer quicker.

This probably meant that triumph tended to push a bit, and react slower. I think it was perfect,, although, 2wd was never my thing.

The bone length would be the length from crosspin to crosspin if it were using dogbones instead of CVDs/U-joints. On the original Optimas/Ultimas, I believe they both used the same dogbones, 62.5mm long from pin-to-pin. The Triumph uses the same rear arms & dogbones/axles as the Optima/Ultima?

if they are 62.5mm then its hard to find cvd substitutes, the lazer uses the same length rear dog bone, the fronts I was able to use the 3 racing 65mm ones, the only 62.5mm ones I can find are from one of the versions of the rb5, and of course, quite expensive
