Both buggies are looking good. If it were me I would have restored the bottom and reannodized the milled chassis for my shelfer. Lots of time went into milling that as I'm sure it was done on an old manual mill like a Bridgeport. Either way your going to have two good looking buggies.

I've not been very good at updating this thread, partly due to holidays and partly down to variable success with parts arriving promptly

I'll need to get a couple of pics up soon, but current status is that the electrics are in (Reedy 3000kV system from a B4 RTR), and i've now installed new Tamiya 5mm ball studs and turnbuckles all round. I had slight contact of the steering rod end with the upper tie rod on the front right, but a slight tweak and change of rod end has solved that one.

Still waiting on two part orders from Tower Hobbies - hopefully they'll turn up the next day or so.

woohoo - one Tower order landed today, yielding some FT blue wheel nuts and new black body posts for this runner build (rest was for the shelfer build ).

Need some quality time to sort the rear wing, wing posts and finish it off

Almost done on the runner - will try to get some new photos up later - aim is to have its maiden outing this weekend

whats the story with the milled chassis? looks cool

Simple answer is I don't really know - guess the original owner raced it and did his best to make it competitive. The chunk missing from the front nose plate and all the milling suggests a serious attempt to be or stay with the front runners.

Looking back at the photos perhaps I should have anodized the milled one for a shelfer and used the second non milled chassis for the runner but its too late for now (can always anodize later and swap it back over I suppose).

Need to get the camera charged up and some images uploaded though.

And start building the shelfer back up

looks great .. your runner looks better then some of my shelfers... id spend the extra cash to find another chassis to run. that milled chassis looks like a work of art.. thats the kind of chassis id want for a shelfer.

Have finally started the rebuild of the shelfer today - only minimal progress but at least its started. Wasn't happy with a few of the hinge pins and threaded rods for the steering etc so another small order just went into Tower. I'll get on with the transmission over the next couple of days, hopefully I have all the parts. It's frustrating finding odd little things that need to be replaced and waiting 2 weeks for delivery, but such is the joy of a rebuild
