Next Project: Turbo Optima
Re: Next Project: Turbo Optima
Wow! Keep the suggestions coming. I have an Optima Turbo resto I've been putting off as I haven't decided where to go with the body.
Has anyone got any pics of the one with a Tamiya shell fitted?

Since you live in the UK, why don't you get the repro from Kam-tec?tomstacey wrote:Wow! Keep the suggestions coming. I have an Optima Turbo resto I've been putting off as I haven't decided where to go with the body.

Right, that's what I meant. Anyways, it's been confirmed. He used a crp rear shocktower.
Re: Next Project: Turbo Optima
I think because I'd like to do something a little different than just box art zzzz. I like to make all my cars just a little different and that Protech bodied Optima is really doing it for me!Mr. ED wrote:Since you live in the UK, why don't you get the repro from Kam-tec?tomstacey wrote:Wow! Also, between you, me and the gatepost, I'm not convinced by the fit of a lot of kamtec repros. I know some are better than others and Optima ones can be too short.

Re: Next Project: Turbo Optima
A man of my heart!
I'd like to try the optima-pro shell on my ultima's: cool body and a belly-pan
I don't think anyone tried the Tamiya shells on an optima yet.
Here's the links to an ultima with desert gator and another with the sand-viper.
(the desert gator has a bit of free air in the back: my mistake for following the lines instead of usin the extra 100 mm it had still. Well that and the fact is put the body too much forward.)

Nice!
I think the B3 terry posted looks pretty good. Maybe I could try a Viper rather than a Protech? I'll keep you posted

Re: Next Project: Turbo Optima
I think a Viper body would look great. I already have 3 viper bodied cars so I wanted to try something else. Right now, I have the Protech I body trimmed but not fully mounted on my Turbo Optima. I have ordered the taller rear CRP shocktower because there's a lot of "space" with the stock one. It looks slightly odd, but not rediculous.

Re: Next Project: Turbo Optima
Here's where I'm at today. The body has been trimmed and mounted. I've replaced the rear shock tower with a CRP fiberglas unit. The rear of the body still needs body mounts...which I haven't started yet. I'm using some Tamiya parts for that.

Here it is folks. There was a quick break in the rain today so I snapped a few shots while the kids were napping.

Re: Next Project: Turbo Optima
Lots of good paintjobs here lately! I like this so much better than the current craze of licks and flames don't follow a single body line.
