Hi,

perhaps a stupid question, but I see you're useing the TRIAD slipper right? I've tried that also, but the inner part of the slipper binds against the trans case because there's no "stop" on the b4 topshaft. What am I missing here?

my car is a T3 with the ASC9601Team Associated Top Shaft (B4/T4).

I'm actually a bit curious on the triad slipper too.

hows thats working for you and what mods did you need to do it.

I doubt ill get around to trying it myself for a while but I know it says its compatible with the b4.1 but not b4, I would check out the assembly guide for the two and see what differs. Maybe you just need to add a spacer to it?

I added a few spacers to get it aligned properly with the motorplate, but that doesnt't fix the "binding isue".

I guess the asso. inner slipper disc has some kind of flange to keep it from binding against the trans case..??

Drill the topshaft hole in the case larger and cut a spacer to go from the bearing to the inner triad hub.

so you would use a spacer (the topshaftspacer 9602 ??) to do this. But wouldn't this spacer then press against the topshaft bearing and destroy the bearing?

the spacer should only touch the inner race, just like on the topshaft gear side. that's not gonna destroy a bearing. there isn't much (if any) pressure on the bearing anyway.

the b4 spacer is probably too long which is why i said "cut" one. i got k&s aluminum tubing at the lhs to make mine.

I did purchase a spacer, If I remember correctly it was the B4 spacer. On my buggy I have a MIP topshaft that is a bit different and doesn't need as large of a spacer (you do have to change the bearing on the slipper side to run the MIP topshaft). The spacers that came with the Avid gear were all I needed on that. I think on the 3rd one I found an old bushing from an RC10 that worked great. And yes you have to drill a bigger hole in your case.

The slipper seems to work well, but I haven't used any other B4 type slipper, so I can't compare it to those. I have one RC10T that is running the original slipper and the Avid seems to have way more holding power. I've been racing an RC10 and RC10T every week since Nov/Dec and I have yet to have to make an adjustment after I did the initial settings. I don't know if that is normal or not....

another note is im not sure which metal its using. my aluminum polish has no effect so maybe stainless steel. It has the machined look to it but i cant get it to polish. I'll have to try sand paper or something other than a polishing cream on it.

It aluminum not stainless.it mite be clear ano on it.you mite want to try mothers polish or even 1000 grite sand paper then try the polish but it will shine if you work it enough.
