I prefer first to build something and when I then see that everything fitts good and will hold I make then the drawings....saves a lot of time.
The other advance of this system is , that most of the ideas come , when I'm drinking a lot of beer and experience shows , that I allways had big problems to understand my own drawings ( from the backside of a bill or so) on the next day.

So what kind of profile you want to take for your belt/pulley's?
Maybe I can give you some tipps for a belt conversion?
I find out a lot of way , which will not work :D :D

the idea i got here has the stock chain guide with teflon tape on the slot. and has 2 tensioners on the chassis like you did. maybe i need to add a couple of bearings for the belt moving smoothly and i can see what i have to after the first run

i believe it's not difficult to make belt pulleys for front center shaft and rear rigid shaft, but your idea on the torque limiter is a great help to me :D

a friend, pargu is making and selling parts on ebay and he is helping me for this idea. i don't have any skill or tools. but the beer and bills are pretty much same to me too

Your idea with the stockslot will not work.
When you look at the car from its backside , you see , that the chain don't run straightaway to the front , the chain runs to the left;
For a chain this is no problem , for a belt it will be a big problem , a belt MUST run straightaway.
The second thing is , that a belt needs much more tension than a chain and leading it in the stockslot will produce a lot of friction with or without teflon tape.
So you have to place the front belt pulley more left , than the stock chainwheel and this is the moment , you will see that you need a very small front pulley to come not in conflict with the holes for the pins of the upper suspension.
But the diameter of the pulley have at least be big enough , to drill a 10 mm hole in it ( for placing it more left).
Before starting anything , you first have to think about , which kind of belt you want /can use.
My first choice would have been a HTD Profile , but I cannot find the right pulleys for it ( you need one with 14 theeth I guess); so i choose a MXL 025 profile , but the height of the teeth is only 0.5 mm.
All other belt profiles have steel inside to enforce the belt and not fibreglass like the HTD / MXL profiles.
Due to the small diameters of the pulleys , a belt with steel inside will eat a lot of the motorpower , will be uneffective.

Soory , of course the chain runs to the right , not to the left.

didn't know the chain runs not straight. i just have measured my stock 834b. center of the chain to the center of the chassis is 16.5mm on the rear pulley, and 14mm on the front. so it runs slightly to the right side

i'm still not sure if i have to cut the slot, or 2 extra bearings on it can be a help. but i can see more on the structure from your advice. thanks for sharing the info and your experiences 8)

Please stay away from cutting anything on the stockparts.
Middle of last year I started my projekt and may you will laugh now but the ignition for this projekt I got in a pub , I guess when Iwas on my sixth or 7 seventh beer and the song "Davies on the road again" ( Manfred Man?) came out of the box.
In one of these totally clear moments you only have , when drinking beer I suddenly remember , that I still have somewhere a box with a little bit of dogfighter in it , then I realized that 2013 the car gets 30 years old and somehow I started singing Doggies off the road again , because it would be some kind of funny , to bring the car (and me) back on the race tracks to this anniversery.
First thing I find out , that its hard to get parts for this car and when you find some , they will be allways very expensive.
The stockslot was one of the orgiginal parts I missed ; now I have one , but have to pay 80! Euros for it at ebay.
So don't cut anything , if you have that original part.
Now I'm missing only one part to build up my Dog 100% original and this is the yellow Batteryplate...and I'm afraid , I have to pay again a lot for this part , when I'll find one some day.

If you take the same Pulleys and choose the same belt and take a little help from pargu , I 'm sure you will be able to built a belt drive conversion like mine.
I just planning to race the car only this saison ; by now I sample nearly enough parts to let the car after the season in this condition and build another one 100% original and then both come on the shelf ( maybe till they reach the age of 40 :D ).
Only things I want to improve before the next race is to build a slipper for the complete drivetrain and to replace the original C hubs by the ones pargu build from alloy ( they just on the way).
But I like the idea of retroracing and so will prepare another oldtimer for the track to use it next year.

Cool story. Even cooler car. Right in my wheel house. Nice work!

Thanks - by the way - to everybody for the compliments.
I know Antonias RC shop , but I guess , she doesn't have so much parts anymore.
If you have a small lathe , or know somebody who has one , it's not complicated to build own front centershafts.
On my running car I have ownbuilded frontwheelhubs ( with freewheels inside) ; if you use alloyrims , the frontwheelhubs don't have to be square.
I only need the yellow battery plate , but it's not urgent.
And - of course - a idea for racingcarproject for the next year :D
