Need to get a 2wd kyosho..

I'd love to go full restoration, but am having a very hard time finding a new bumper and rear motor guard. Nearly everything else is new.

It's going to be box art, which is why I added the red spacers to the front end instead of the black.

What are the shock towers made of? They look different than the ones on my Triumph.

They are the stock towers. I polished them with some Mothers to remove the light scuffs. The polish brought out the natural tone of the material.

I'm not sure what material Kyosho used on the Triumph and Lazer ZXR towers, but it appears to be a fiber or carbon reinforced material.

They match the color tone of the carbon lower chassis deck, but don't appear to be layered like the chassis. The two chassis decks appear to be layered with carbon and resin / polymer. The new replacement lower deck has a slightly different color tone than the original lower and upper deck. It has a lighter grey color tone. I'm not sure if this is due to the age of the original decks versus the NIP lower deck that I have, or if Kyosho changed the manufacturing process or material mid-run.

I remember reading in another post on this forum that Kyosho used two different materials in the towers during the Triumph production run.

Either way, it's looking great and I can't wait to finish it!!!

Oh, I noticed you have dogbones. Apparently, some Triumphs came with universals. Mine didn't. Do you know where your Triumph came from? I bought mine NIB from a guy in Australia about 10 years ago.

I'm not sure where mine came from. I picked it up on our favorite on line shopping network last winter, but it didn't come with a box or manual so I'm not sure when it was originally produced or where it was sold (Asia, US, etc).

Blue Groove body arrived a few days ago, and repro decals are in the mail. Hopefully they're good!

Recently I saw a Triumph chassis that was woven carbon fiber, while yours looks like graphite or black fiberglass.. I think the towers on the ZX-R are black fiberglass; they're too flexible for graphite.

Just checked my N.I.B Triumph kit. The chassis, main topdeck, front topdeck and towers are made in the same material. Looks like glassfiber G10 (black). The towers in this thread looks like kelron to me. The same as the Ultima 2 chassis. I would like to see some better images of the edges.

Also checked Ebay and at least one of rear towers listed looks like kelron plastic. One can see the round spots from being mounted in the creation process.

The Triumph is nearly done! I was able to find the needed bumper and motor guard a few months ago. Both were new... and not cheap!!! The only thing needed to get this back to mint is the bottom tranny cover. I see a few floating around, but they're expensive for what they are. Plus, I like being able to see the tranny belts and this one is a shelfer.

It's been a while since I added a status on this build so I thought it was time to post an update. Pictures to follow, including the requested pics of the towers. You'll notice these are the molded 'kelron' towers, not the carbon (see the mold dimples).
