I have been fortunate to find many diamonds over the years. Way too much to list or even remember, but here are some highlights.
Craigslist add said something like, old rc cars for parts. In the description he mentioned a 4 wheel drive RC10, which of coarse peaked my interest, several RC10's, Blackfoot, and a bunch of extras. Looking at the pic was bitter sweet to see no 4 wheel drive RC10, but instead a YZ10 870c. I assumed he had mistaken the YZ10 for a 4 wheel RC10, but he only wanted 200 for the lot, so I was all over it. I got three nice RC10's, the YZ10, beat up blackfoot, a 10T, and aton of spare parts, including many new out of package associated parts, a ton of new hardware, lots of RC10 aftermarket parts, and low and behold, an incomplete but NIP MIP legends kit. It was missing the complete rear transmission but was complete other than that. I knew I didn't want to spend the money to do a proper build with MIP kit, so I put it on Ebay and it sold for almost $900.
Another craigslist score was for a lot of 3 RC10T's for $80. Turned out to be 2 very nice 10T's, and the third one was a Rayborn Racing Invencer with a nice S&K Airs body on it.
One of my personal favorites was finding my original RC10GT resto project at the local Hobby Town, and then finding that it still had the ultra rare and almost never seen clutch spring still installed.

Re: Share your "diamonds in the rough" parts finds
It's one of those buys that made me wonder what some sellers are thinking, or rather whether they think at all. Listing it as "box of old parts", no actual description and three non-descript pictures is technically accurate, but it would have ended much higher with some effort put into the listing.Coelacanth wrote:EvoRevo's doesn't count because that's not a diamond-in-the-rough, it's hard to find ANY rough in that hoard of diamonds!I could really put some of those goodies to use!

Oh well, at least I didn't get to complain.
