ah, thanks! I think I should have started with 220 grit. I'm working in the field now though, so I'm just going to kill time working the 400 grit I got. I'm just going to copy n paste for reference

Sure thing. If you want to clean up the G-10 fiberglass parts you can starts with some cleaner degreaser and a toothbrush. Then to help with some of those scratches you can sand them away with 500 grit wet sand paper. Be sure to use water! For really deep scratched areas I use 220 ans then go back with the 500 in those areas. Then I use 1000 grit, 1200 grit and finish off with 1500 grit. Always washing off the parts between each grit. Okay, tired of sanding and polishing now! I got the chassis, LH wheel hub, diff spacer and the Cheetah front assembly left to sand and polish. Got to take the chassis back off, but wanted to piece the rear on the chassis for photos. And don't worry, I will be getting a new clean spur gear for after rebuilding the diff.

Are you upset for me giving you those wheels yet?

Not yet, but I so don't want to polish those wheels at this point. I really appreciate those wheels. I'm thinking this car will turn out nice with them. I need Rick to pull through with the decals he got that are on Rod's car. I think a photo shoot with the two different Toyota GTP cars together will be cool.

And what about polishing the spokes, any tips?

The left side is pretty good for me. I got my Canada Toyota 4WD Association close, based in Calgary and I have Rod and RC tracks in Calgary as well. The wifey has me lol. She's better off when I work in the field and is alone hahaha. She's finding it tough for now with no friends out here and no job yet. She has an interview Monday though.

I got most things polished up. Still need to do the chassis and wheels though. I think the carbon fibre doesn't fit. Seems to me a while back I noticed someone with aluminum nerf bars. I think those would look nice on this car.

Just found where I seen them, durb69 has them on a couple of his 10Ls. Maybe have to PM him about obtaining a set.

OEM graphite are nicer IMO! BTW......Uhm.... Can I have my car back? JKing... Looks good dude!

Mine's nicer anyway!

I don't know Rod espically since I just baught an aluminum shock mount. Those nerf bars would match perfect.

look all through that thread because you will see that the chassis i started with was pretty ugly and the end result was better than factory i thought. Super shiny. Sorry I didn't see this post sooner. I go in and out of the hobby a lot. During the dead of the winter i get all my RC stuff out. Makes little sense i guess but that's when i get overly bored at home and find things to keep me busy. I look forward to seeing your end results!

oh and if you PM me we can talk about getting you some aluminum nerf bars I might have a set already made. If not i can make another batch. its been quite a while since i've made any custom parts for my RC10l's I've made some other stuff too if you look through my post. I really wish i could get my hands on a CNC lathe again. I would be making some rims like yours! I love those things. and i would polish the living crap out of them if i was you lol. Use a lathe if you can. thats what i use on all my round parts. Some of that simichrome polish will make them look like chrome!

p.s. i can make the center of the nerf bars solid if you want as well. Could also engrave them with words, logo's or designs. I made a set for an rc10ls i built that were a little different.

oh i was just looking through my pics and remembered i made some of these as well. The ones in the pic are dark. I have The correct material to make them factory color now. They would look cool if you want to get away from the aluminum.
