Re: CC-01 Build
The Rear Diff Gear.
Tamiya offered two options to build your diff , you can install locked or unlocked diff.
If you choose to install the unlock diff you need to use the spider gear same as the front diff less the Blu Tack thAT i built earlier.
I will run this using the fully locked diff , to do that I need the two plastic pieces that included in the kit. It's splined to fit the large bevel gear.
The rear locked diff parts
almost done
Now it's time to assemble the locked diff into the axle housing.
The axle parts.
axles riding on bearings
I applied black gears into the gear and marine grease into the bearings after this pictorial.
Now I have completed the solid axle.

Re: CC-01 Build
Continuing
Now for the Shock assembly?
Tamiya provided an oil filled shocks but not a high tech like the one you're using for race.
The Shock shafts is like a nail with a flat head at one end, Shaft and piston in one piece.
Assembling it is pretty simple, attach this attach that , fill with oil, bleed, cap and put the spring retainer and your done.
But there is much easier than that, buy a pre-assembled shocks .
GPM Shocks
Front Shock installed
Rear Shock intalled
DONE! As I have mentioned it so easy

Re: CC-01 Build
Protection time
Junfac's Front Skid Plate installed
Junfac's Rear Skid Plate installed
Finally the belly Skid Plate. I have a 2nd thought of using this one, as this will lower my ground clearance.
But it's a waste if I will not install it. I will just remove it if necessary.
So here it goes, Another shot of the bottom.
I can pretty say it's almost done
The only missing are the electronics and tires and of course the body shell (I hate paint works )

Re: CC-01 Jeep Wrangler - Build
Do you plan to run this? IMO you've made it too nice to run. My jeep is one of my favorite runners so if you do run it, you're gonna love it. On mine I've locked the rear diff but kept an open front diff. The chassis would benefit from locking the front diff and as long as you run in the dirt, the scrubbing of the inside wheel on a turn will not make much difference to the turn radius. on the street you'll notice it and it might put stress on the integrated chassis gearbox. Just as good measure you should pick up an extra chassis and top gear cover. I've seen the plastic on the mounting holes get weak allowing the screws to loosen and in turn allowing the gears to skip. I really like the Junfac skid plates, I may pic up some of those. Did you check out some of the RC channel parts before buy the GPM?

Rc channel is my first choice, but things get in different direction when I saw a GPM complete package auction for CC01 (except the steering link). The current bid was only 35usd and its only 3hrs left. I put my max bid to 51. After the time lapse I won for 51usd.
