What do you use to dye the parts and how do you go about it?

I used clothing dye that you can get just about everywhere. Follow the instructions one the box...bring water to a boil, turn down heat to low, add dye and mix. People leave the parts in for different lengths of time depending on colour used and how dark they want the colour. I used black and left the parts in for about 30mins. I either place a wooden spoon or something to put on top of the pot and use dental floss to hang parts so nothing touches the pot or stir the parts so they don't rest on the bottom of the pot.

TIME FOR AN UPDATE.
Here's the worlds body and the decals I got re-created by a local graphic artist. They are not exact, but very close:
Here are some pics of my parts pile:
Take a good look at the white parts in the pyrex dish waiting for the hydrogen peroxide treatment. Note how yellow they look:
There are 3 spectrum's of UV light that can be emitted; UV-A, UV-B and UV-C. DANGER, UV-C is used for germicidal eradication. It basically scrambles the DNA so cell division / reproduction is unable to occur, NASTY STUFF.
UV-A and UV-B are what you will be looking for if you want to purchase a light to whiten your parts. Typically a reptile heat lamp or plant growing lamp will do the trick. I purchased a ZILLA brand UV light from Amazon.com, $36.00. You really want to search for a light that emits a high UV-B spectrum. Mine emits 93% UV-A and 7% UV-B. The UV-B is helpful in whitening the parts in conjunction with hydrogen peroxide. It's been sunny outside, but I wanted to see how well the UV light would do on its own. Let's face it, we typically work on our RC Hobby when the weather isn't so pleasant. Please note all parts were cleaned with a toothbrush, holes were cleaned with fuzzy stick art/craft pipe cleaner and dish detergent prior to being whitened. Here is the pic of my UV / peroxide set up:
Here is a pic in relation to an untreated part after 24hrs:

I have been progressing on another project, but plan to continue the build late fall / early winter. It will be well documented and completed throughout the winter months. In fact I just ordered the ESC yesterday, it's an associated clearance ESC, LRP IPC V8.1 no motor limit. I also got a reedy 11turn double modified on clearance from associated.

Not a problem. Glad my research helped others. The project is still alive, but on the back burner.

Just the typical cheap stuff at the drug store.
