If all goes well tomorrow is sanding and paint. Seems like it's been a week! Oh wait...it has! I need to have the Uhaul truck back by Monday afternoon so once the paint is on I need to move everything back in. Shelves, racks, benches and pegboard will have to wait. It's going to suck, but I have to go back to work and I can't keep storing the room in the uhaul truck at $20/day!
I have retired the "torture rack" due to it being hard on tires. The new rack needs to support the cars by the chassis- and since all sit a little different: on road, off road, big, small etc it's going to be hard to get it right.

You should go with the two dowels in a board per car. Down the wall. Can find the thread who made them.

I can do that if they are facing out, but lengthwise I would be out of room quickly! I had 88 cars in a 4' long 7' tall ~2' deep rack before. I need to improve on that and keep the footprint manageable.
My thought is closer to having two stringers running lengthwise so the cars are a supported between the wheels but with minimal contact and maximum compatibility

Looking good so far! I'll have to pop by and check it out when it's all done.
We're having new windows put in the house in a few weeks, and when that happens, I'll need to move all my stuff out of the way. Good excuse to do some reorganizing over here too. I'm nearly as crowded as you were (but my stuff isn't as cool).

Well, I'm running out of time and in the end it is just a shed- so we are quickly on to primer and paint tonight- I must have it ready to unload the uhaul in the morning. There are a couple areas where the putty isn't dry from having to go back over problems, so those will get finished later. Not ideal- but I'm outta time! Most of it will be pegboard or workbenches anyway!

Ok, going back together. All I saved is one bench so for now it is "R/C Lasagna" or "how I learned to strategically stack 80+ cars fairly carefully"
