Re: 380 sized brushless motors
2.3 inner and 3.2mm outer diameter... errr that makes 1/8" outer and ... I don't know but let me back to you after I make up my mind and have the other stuff: moter , adapter plate
I'm still undecided and was hoping to get some input here since I'm really not so knowledgeable on 1/12.

This is the car I'd like to get running in a controllable manner. Regulations are no issue: it doesn't fit any race class anyway as I changed the wheelbase and track to accept m-chassis bodies.

Re: 380 sized brushless motors
sorry I missed this one so long...I love my little 380 motor, I was running in the 2wd Mod class at a very large outdoor 1/8th scale track in my JRX2 and it performed very well:

Size comparisons pics with a 27T brushed:

Its a 10T, 4400KV motor and it flies. My JRX felt just as fast as my 22 with a 10.5 sensored. I am geared 21/81 I think, I will have to look, LRM tranny with slipper.
Pics of the track/race that day:

I can't wait to get to the track again, may be on an indoor clay high traction track. Gold Barcodes all around, the car is ready to roll right now.
Oh...and the higher C rating/cogging issue? Didnt notice it at all, using a 5400/28C pack. I feel a lot of the cogging issues are the speedo more so than the motor.

Re: 380 sized brushless motors
Have I mentioned that I absolutely love this little motor? Easily as fast as my sensored 10.5 system in my TLR 22 and much easier to jump off the corners and apply the power. The speedo attached to it isnt the greatest, but I am working on replacing that with a newer, more adjustable unit.
I ran it several time today, outdoor track, holeshot/DD track. Motor would be slightly warm after running for about 7 minutes, and would use around 1400 mah out of the battery.

Re: 380 sized brushless motors
The 8.5T motor I have right now is insanely fast. It's top speed is phenomenal but the shear torque is so great that I've got the punch turned down to 6 from 7 on the speedo and 25% exponential set on the throttle just so I can feather it a little bit easier. I can still occasionally do a back flip under acceleration if I'm not careful and have lots of traction and that is on a mid motor car! The amount of torque is a problem which may sound a bit strange. On high grip tracks I run a pretty loose diff but with so much torque I really need to run the slipper quite loose or be very gentle on the throttle which isn't always easy. I may give this a try. I've solved my cogging issues on my 21.5T sensor less motor by turning the punch up to 9 from 7 so it's pretty good now. Even if that little Tacon motor doesn't work out for me, it's cheap enough to try.

Re: 380 sized brushless motors
more pics of the motor for those interested...checked my gearing, 19/81 @ 2.18

Motor is centered on the adapter plate, not like the tamiya one shown earlier.
