Hahaha, yes it is a fugly duckling for now! I almost didn't post a picture up because I was going to wait until the dye and anodizing job, but I wanted to share.
The red bulkhead will get recolored but I wonder if I can pull some of the red out first, bleach perhaps? I have a perfect white bulkhead and a nip black one but I didn't want to cut them to fit the chassis braces used in this buggy.

Re: Flip's Old is New (Part Two)
On the bumpsteer, it looks like that rack has two set of holes for the inner ball of the steering links. I'd put the links in that hole, or if there is room, drill another hole even closer. Then you have to play with moving the ball up on the inner ball, or down on the outer ball.
I think you can take a 10T tower, lay it under a stock tower, and drill the outer holes in the stock tower into the 10t. Then use tower mounted wing mounts in the outer stock 10t holes so they don't look like they are just hanging out in space.
Nice job on the unique front end parts.

Yeah, that was rather perplexing... The "flat rate box to nowheres" was the most interesting part. Still wondering if/when that one will get to you.flipwils11 wrote:It's been half a year, time for an update! Thanks to 300SD for being extremely patient while we tried to ship a set of replacement pins for his delrin trans case to me because I stupidly lost the original set. Wow, we were about to try passenger pigeon or a personal courier to try to get these pins to arrive at my house!

Looks great so far!

Been a while, not such an ugly duckling anymore I daresay. Still a ways to go.

Looks like velvets up front...
Flip: If you need some rear 10mm velvet bodies, I have some if you want them.

Thanks, yes velvets front and rear. I had everything anno'd yellow, but it might show better with natural lighting.

You guys do know that "velvet" is what Kyosho calls the brown-ish anno that's on those front shocks right? The silver coated ones in back are not velvet coated.

Nope didn't know that, but I bought the rears from a respected board member on here who advertised them as velvets.Orange wrote:You guys do know that "velvet" is what Kyosho calls the brown-ish anno that's on those front shocks right? The silver coated ones in back are not velvet coated.

Re: Flip's Old is New (Part Two)
I'm sorry to hear that and its not unusual for people to mistake that term as the name of the shock. If I had seen an ad for that I would have pointed that out.
But as I said, if you want some rear velvet bodies, I have some if you want them, they are yours. I just need an address pm'd,

Or I have some of the silver front bodies if you like that color better. Up to you.

Re: Flip's Old is New (Part Two)
Still don't have a wing solution yet but Sean/Orange has an idea I might try. The body was done probably two years ago when I first joined this site (painted by WED Jim). I had it on one of the 1st rc10 runner/bashers I got going (6 gear, nothing special) that my son was driving at the time. Due to a multitude of factors including nimhs, glitchy FM radio, and some less than robust parts on the car like the idler gears in the trans (which shredded themselves), it wasn't the greatest experience.
The body is much better suited to a nice Old is New build with shorty lipo, 2.4ghz, brushless, and better thought out upgrades, thanks to my time here on rc10talk! The car is screwy fast with the 8.5T brushless. A lexan chassis protector will be put on soon to protect the yellow anodizing as best I can.

Took a short video, but nothing special since it's hard to drive with one hand and hold the camera/phone too.

Looks good. How does it corner on a track? Curious how the rear tower/shocks do.
