I just made my 1st Hobbypartz.com order and I have to say, I was pretty impressed. I got a sky 2s for my legends, which has been perfect. And a Gens Ace, I wasn't too impressed .05 volt out of balance out of the box. I haven't cycled that one enough times to see if it will come in line though. But the power it put out was reassuring. Shipping was quick and cheap!

Better than $100 revtech trinity packs that puff it you look at them cross eyed

Most guys like to mod them to add more steering trim and some do it just because. I reflashed mine to give more trim which was nice as the stock adjustment isn't really quite enough. There are also guys who replace the battery tray with a lipo pack and change the low voltage warning.

Here is the thread:

http://www.rctech.net/forum/radio-electronics/538922-flysky-gt3b-hack-tech-thread.html

Oh and I've got 3 Gens Ace batteries and they've all been perfect, balanced perfect too. I just got my first Sky Lipo and it seems good too.

OK, I started reading this thread and didn't quite get it. Figured I'd go over to hobbypartz and check it out.

This 2.4GHz radio with the fancy display and a receiver is $35. $35?

Is this a scam? Am I on candid camera? Is this not going to last for a year?

I have the Futaba 3PM-x and like it a lot but the blk lcd display kind of blows. I have no complaints about functionality, I've had zero issues with out of control vehicles, or the range. But thinking about what to get my 6-year-old son for his B4 he'll get for Christmas, it sure won't be a 3PM-x.

I've had my flysky radio for 6months and I knocked it off the roof of my van. It landed on the asphalt below on it's antenna and nothing broke. It feels like it's somewhat brittle, but it's far from. It's very light as well and almost as comfortable as my airtronics mx3 that I love so much. I definitely recommend the flysky to anyone.

Has anyone here actually "hacked" (upgrading firmware isn't really hacking, IMHO) their radio? I had a look at the process and it didn't seem as easy as people would have you believe. For those who actually have reprogrammed their radio, I'd like to know what the process is, from someone who did it first-hand. Thanks!

I have done it. As some have pointed out, it's a great radio and for the price if you break it, no biggie right?

But as for hacking it, it's easy once you understand how to do it but honestly I'd probably just buy the prehacked one from someone like overkillrc.com

Even prehacked WITH a super tiny receiver, it's only 45 US I think. I have driven my car farther than I can see it with no issues. Mind you, I've never used it at a track. I have a Spektrum DX3R that I need to setup so I can race it against my son.

Bottom line, it's a great radio and even better for the price.

I am currently using the gt 3b in my b4 and my 10t.it works great. Once you get used to how to change the settings it's pretty dam easy. The only problem I had with it is the manual that I had to download it was written in broken english.lol. never having used a 2.4 set up before it was a little bit of a trick trying to bind the receiver. So far the radio has been great! Funny thing about it though my buddy was flying his ar drone with his iphone and I fired up the b4, the radio interfered with the iphone. I had to shut down so he wouldn't crash his new toy.

I actually won't use Hobbyking much either, because they charged me about $30 to ship an airbrush and 3 LiPo batteries. :x
Ya shipping is a little nuts, but if you got the dual action airbrush hk sells, its worth it! I love that brush, works as good as my $$ brushs for a fraction of the price.

As for the GT3B, its good for $35, but it does have a few issues, lack of trim being the worst thing. The mods they do on rc tech really make this radio come to life. VERY expandable with the firmware upgrades. Read the thread for more info. FWIW, losikid on there sells the radio pre modded for a fair price. Anotherthing there is a GT4B radio coming soon, looks a lot different from the gt3b.

I'm holding off on getting another GT3B because I'd love to get the new GT3C or GT4, both look pretty good IMO.
