Let me know when you get to SoCal and I'll show you the old AE Edinger building, my vintage R/C car collection, etc.

Start in NY is for sure and we will end up in LA i think. But beetween that...

Avoid the I-10 from GA through TX, it is the most boring highway in the whole country- 24hours straight through TX alone and straight as a arrow.

Several ways that are interesting drives to get you to some midpoint like Denver. The PA turnpike is an interesting drive all the way through PA, or atleast to Pittsburgh. My favorite scenic route out of the east coast is from the DC area taking I-70 west into I-68 west. The western finger of Maryland is a very nice drive. I would also suggest spending a day or two in Chicago if you've never been.

If you go directly from NYC to Cederpoint (Sandusky, Ohio) it is about a 600 mile drive. To go to Chicago from Cederpoint, you would have to travel another 300 miles West.

One of the best airshows in the US is the Chicago Airshow which will be held on Aug 18-19, 2012. You can hang out on the beach and watch the show over the water. In 2012, the US Navy Blue Angels will be headlining the show.

1. Boston, Mass. A must see.
2. Washington, D.C. So much history.
3. Grand Canyon. THE most beautiful place you will ever see. Went there 23 years ago...still wish I could afford to take my family.
4. NY city. Not my favorite place, but plenty of things to see and do.
5. Virginia Beach, VA. Just a fun place to go and relax. Old school, but has been updated. Not as crowded as Daytona, Myrtle Beach, etc.

Chicago Air Show! i really want to see your forces, but i also need to put my vacation one month earlier because of that and miss out som bikeraces but i dont care, i think it´s worth it.

So what do you think this far? : NY-Sandusky (Cedar point)-Chicago-Colorado (Denver)-Las Vegas-Sacramento-SF-Highway1 down to SD and att last up to LA.

Should we take a loop from NY down to Washington?

I work at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham, North Carolina. We have a 5,000 square foot butterfly house with an equally large insectarium. We have several insects that many museums do not have. As a matter of a fact, we actually supply severl museums witht eh bugs we raise. We also have a huge outdoor exhibit centered around a wetland, with a 750 foot board walk. If you happened to be near, I'd be more than happy to give you a "behind the scenes" tour. 8)

NY to Washington is a good one. I live in Brooklyn, last year my parents came to visit and we all got on the Amtrak down to DC. It was pretty cool. There's a million things to do in NYC while you're here. Lots of good places to eat, things to see, museums, buildings, art, culture, history, etc. I definitely recommend some of the real touristy type of things, like go up in the Empire State Building, walk out on the Brooklyn Bridge, maybe take a double decker bus tour. I'd recommend stopping down at Katz's deli for a pastrami sandwich and going to the Met to check out some world class art work. DC is cool too. Check out the monuments, go to a few museums, my favorites were Air and Space and the National Gallery, they've got the only Leonardo in the Western hemisphere there.
