Nice vids! Thanks for sharing them! I sure miss that type of track to run on! I hate all the "big air" jumps on our @#$% 1/8 (AKA no talent to drive buggy) track we have in Calgary, that we can't properly run a 1/10 buggy on! Sorry, rant over! The vid just got me going!

I loved all the old sub-C batteries, brushed motors and even seeing multi meters hooked up to budget timer chargers in the pits. They were great times back then when a well thought out and well set up car resulted in performance hard to beat.

See the funny thing is, though, not only were the cars completely primitive in setup options, but most of us had NO idea what to do to make a car work properly. Very few people knew what holes on the shock tower did what, or what weight oil made the car change. Tires were so hard that they barely worked properly anyway. You tried to get the car balanced enough to drive with minimal mistakes, that was about it.

You can see in some of the non-A races that many 4wd cars were even spinning out. Unheard of in today's world. We just didn't have the knowledge base to know what the setups could do on them, because we hadn't been doing it more than a couple of years, if that.

You can't deny those cars were generating some serious power for '85. When did they start using a transponder system? I didn't realize they had them back then. Our track didn't have them 'til about '89 and I thought we were in early.

Yup, about 1988 here in the US (Lake Whipporrwhill, Florida). Bolink brought the AMB system to the US. It was in Europe earlier than '88, but not in too many places. I think it was a part of Serpent when it was originally developed in the early 80s.
