 well............... , I think that it was one if the guys that was too lazy to cut a tire, glue a tire, make pool noodle inserts, mount the tire and then slick the tire and treat with diesel fuel- it was a pita- but then again I was used to cutting and truing at least 100 sets of four a year for nationals and testing, so for me it was just another step

Looks good. I have a bunch of parts without a chassis. I can't decide if I want to sell the parts, or buy a chassis and build a car  .

Hell, I'll give you a chassis and you can race it!

And..............speaking of race cars. Since this is a race car and I am running it in the 17.5 class-I decided to get some free HP-

So, installed sanded diff rings/carbide balls/thrust washers, all ceramic bearings and one of ( actually the only white on I have seen :| ) Walt's 2.25 delrin case for perfect alignment. Then did the typical treatment on the motor plate/ tranny brace.

I know, big deal- but it's something

Charlie don't surf wrote:...having to run the " goat scrotum " tires...
This almost made me blow milk out my nose.

Can someone explain? Is it just the texture of the tire being similar to "goat scrotum"? Or what is the history of this term???

Thanks for a good laugh.

I'll have to dig a bit for the pics, the indoor track that we were racing on was 100% pure red clay, and always damp to the point that we ran slicks to keep the clay out of the tire surface. One of the AE/Proline drivers started treating the tires with Diesel fuel ( to repel the dirt from sticking to the slick rubber ), but the diesel ate the inserts and made the rubber swell, so we made our own closed cell inserts with large pool noodles and then cut 3/4-1" cross section out of the tire, the reglued it making it really tight to the noodle. Goat Scrotums- 8)
