I got a Losi in a Box from Rick last week.



So I mocked it up a little. I have to re-countersink the chassis for the hardware store 8-32 screws I picked up, but this is what it will look like, when I get some more time to work on it..

I hear that the long shock mounting lugs on the RPM rear arms can flex, twist the arm, and cause some unwanted toe-in gain during compression. I'm thinking that I may shorten the legs, and then mount the shocks on the rear of the tower, and not have to use the tower/bulkhead spacer.

One of my concerns with this car was making it appear as stock JRx2 as possible. (5 link excluded since it will be for a runner.) My plan is to use Ultima RB5 caster blocks and HPI Ultra 5 wheels. The RB5 carriers cause a slight width gain, as do the Andy's Wide Ultima arms. I was a little concerned that I might go over legal width but a few preliminary measurements leads me to believe that I'll be fine after all.

I did all of that and it cut down my steering enough that I am putting it back stock

If my car ends up too wide you still got those S&K Jrx2 oval arms scr8p?

I see a problem with that pro se rear tower being a little to tall, it might be hard to fit a body to it? I would check it before you get to far along.

KV78 measured a stock x2 rear tower for me @ 2inches to the top flat where the stock body sits. The pro se tower measures 2" to its flat part. (above the notched body mount but below the shock mounting ears) So I will have to notch for the tower ears, and possibly shock clearance, but the body should sit at the same height. I will probably have to cut the shock "cheeks" out of the body though.

The stock x2 arms are 2 3/8 pin center to pin center. The Ultima arms are 2 1/2. That gains 1/4 in overall. The Ultima RB5 carriers also add a little width compared to the stock Losi carriers. IDK how much width they add, measured it on my Ultima Pro with the wheel still on, and couldn't get an accurate "eyeball" measure. It MAY be fine, but I have this OCD thing about being ROAR legal even though 1. I haven't raced in years. 2. When I did, I never raced at a ROAR track anyway..

i measured my stock jrx2 arms at 2 7/16" (as best i could tell with them still on the car. my andy's jrx2 arms are 2 1/2", and the andy's jrx2 oval arms are 2 3/16". all center pin to center pin measurements.

Hmm. So I'm probably fine with what I've got, it seems.. And if not, the oval arms may narrow it too much? I think I'll go steal the carriers off the Ultima, and get a REAL measurement.

The only time I have ever thought Timberlake was a real man was the first time I saw this skit- but it should have been C...k in a box, as it flows better...

Finally bought some parts for this tonight - Turnbuckles, rod ends, and ball studs on the way. I'm going to put a few items in the wanted forum - too. Let's see if I can be wheeling a Losi before Xmas.
