oh boy oh boy oh boy. its done and im extremely pleased with it. i took it for a quick zip up and down the street and already ran into an issue but its no biggie. for now it is rx-less too but ill just steal one from another car.

on to the pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Image

front tower got knocked out this morning. had to use spacers to get the shocks positioned correct. you may recognize them from the front body mounts of the donor car

the upper deck was finished last night. im really pleased with how it came out. you can also see my little buddy chillin there
Image

cut out a hole for the antenna then cut around the face to add some detail to it
Image

you can see how the rear braces tie into the chassis, i took a sanding drum and hit the upper deck at an angle to go around the lower link. it cleared it already but again i wanted some detail
Image

i do have 2 body styles in mind but dont have either yet (which is why there are no body posts on the chassis as of right now) i also plan to take a bit more off the chassis and under it as well. it weighs in at about 3 1/4 pounds with pack and electronics and thats no good for me. i want it under 3lbs so i need to get this pig on a diet asap!

as far as im concerned though its all down hill from here. ill keep everyone posted when i get the body(s) figured out.

i guess i should update this huh? got one of the bodies painted and mounted. im not 110% on the styling and body lines but im pleased with how it came out and how it mounted. i had to cut a bit off the top of the shock tower (took the pointed top off) and i had to cut down the left side of the lower chassis and a bit of the upper chassis too. i may have also changed tires between my last update and this'n these are more scale if you ask me.

the paint job isnt phenomenal but it will get torn to heck sooner or later so no worries :d

so here you can see the newly added body post and where i took a bit off the top of the shock tower
Image

the rear body mount may look familiar to 2wd traxxas owners, yup, butchered front body mount. also pictured are a set of dubro body clip retainers. they are only the greatest thing to happen in rc since the electronic speed control... i may be exaggerating a bit, i dont think so though.
Image

took some off the left side to clear the body and shed weight. not pictured is some butchery under the battery cups. you can also see where i took off the upper deck
Image
Image

now onto the body! like i said, isnt my best paint job and its not my normal colors but it is what it is.

ive been doing some test and tune work on it between chores around the house and ive changed only a few things. only noticeable one is the new wing. it needed it in more ways then one, gives me more down force obviously but it also gave the body a little "balance". it just didnt seem right before i guess. needed more substance in the very back end.

Very nice work, love all the custom fabrication & mods! How does it run in a straight line? Seems like it might be a bit awkward as it's meant to run in circles. Cool vid too, btw.

thanks man. its a little awkward when you grab too much throttle out of a turn or off the line. after that just a gentle bit of correction keeps it right on track

This is a cool project, I bet it would have fit right in BITD of Jrxs and RC10s dropped and offset for dirt oval. (If the SRT was around yet! - of course the Bullet was...) Like the choice of body too.

I'm curious about that red fiberglass plate material your using.... where did you get it?... what is it?.... etc...

thanks man!

its called gpo-3. ive got a ton of it that i found on the side of the road. its normally for electrical stuff.

http://www.youngmancn.com/gpo3.htm

its neat and all but drills and cuts like crap and its too brittle really, had some 1/16th stuff from mcmaster-carr that snapped like a dry twig. not great for rc compared to say g10 or graphite because of the durability factor but ive got so much of the dang stuff i might as well use it!

if you want some let me know, ill sent you a 1x1' panel for the cost of shipping
