You could probably put them on but the caster and anti squat angles from the onraoad car would be different.

Yes they will, but they are not as good (IMHO) as proper machined delrin ones or the mag and alloy ones. I had them on a works 93 chassis here: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=35992&id=7325

So I finally started wrenching on this one today and dissambled the whole car. The chassis is cleaned already and discovered I will have to source a few more parts like white bulkhead caps which seem impossible to find even slightly used I plan to replace the front and rear shock towers as they were a bit too modified by the previous owner, no problem for these as Fybre-Lyte still makes them in twill leave. The rear shock bodies are a tad too much scratched to my taste, so I will try to source these as well.

I was quite pleased with the general shape of the car, it shows minimal wear overall and I will only have to replace most of the screws. Any tip to source these?

The plan is to go back to white parts all around and as you will see below I already have most of them together with new a-arms, Team Suzuki adapters and a NIP TCS. This is again a long-term project but I'm really happy to finally have started working on it.

I was quite amazed by the amount of preparation the previous owner went through, especially regarding the bulkheads, these were lightened, rounded at the edges and the rear one got the typical rear hole to let the dirt escape "à la Masami".

I hope to be able to report progress soon, if time allows...

I managed to get a little work done today while the kids were napping diffs were dissambled, cleaned and lubed. The diff rings had been CA glued, but nothing a Swiss knife can't remove. Not a single part was replaced as they were in very good condition overall besides the 15+ years old dust and dirt. All the bearings have also been cleaned and lubed.

I ordered a set of front C-carriers as they were modified and a tad worn out by the previous owner. When they arrived I noticed the hole that is supposed to hold the ball end for the specific '93 extra stiffening front turnbuckles were not drilled. Not a big problem though, I guess they were designed for a later model actually, probably for the MX-4?

YZ10/Pavidis to be more specific. MX4 design changed a bit.

Nothing special at all, just elbow grease...



... and this:

At first I spray the diff pulley with WD40, let it soak a few minutes, then brush it with a toothbrush, rince with hot water, then a second run of WD40/toothbrush and lastly rince with hot water, add a dab of dishwash soap, brush and rince, you're done!

The metal parts get treated the same way except I obviously don't use water and soap. First step is to spray them with WD40, let them soak a bit, then I use a steelwool pad to gently scrub them (it prevents to remove material at critical locations), the outdrives are gently polished with a 1000 grit sandpaper sponge (see pic above). Last step is to clean and dry everything with a cloth.

I've done the other diff today using this very method, here is the result (thumb pics are clickable):

Now the transmission is done, took me a good three hours to get this (thank God the kids still do a nap ):

You keeping the awesome perfectly period correct day-glo bulkhead caps the same on this (best 93' eva!!) build?

They are readily available from Fybre-Lite, I actually almost bought one, but they're quite expensive and the one I have here is an original COMCOM one that has a blue tint and is in really good shape as opposed to the shock towers that needed to be replaced to my taste. Any progress on your 93 tub otherwise?

Well, I am still debating, I first wanted to bring everything back to black and white, but for the life of me I just can't find any bulkhead caps in good shape, not even mentioning NIP I thought about keeping the pink painted ones, but the rear one has been drilled to accept a transponder chip holder I have a very nice set of white LRP mesh rims for this one too that will go along with the LRP LE 25 AMS escape and motor that were already on the car. I would love to source a period correct LRP receiver too. Time will tell I guess.

They didn't produce a receiver at that point did they?
