no problem, check out the link to the previous building stage at the start of this tread also: might give you more inspiration still.

And, if you're ever thinking of converting to a truck: chek my other ultima projects ;)

(what timezone are you in by the way?)

Yet another major make-over:

- Ultima RB5 front wheels and rear wheels with Losi and Panther tires respectively
- Tamiya F201 large wheelbase axles and hexes compensate for the narrow offset of the new wheels in the back, while keeping the stocklength axles for ease of spares.
- Thanks to woobie for the A&L clutch!
- White wide Andy's arms for bring the front up to legal limit in combination with the RB5 carriers and steeringknuckles. Arms are swapped backward for increased wheelbase. In combination with the Pro-X front arms in the rear, the wheelbase is know 20mm or 4/5inch longer tha stock with this chassis
- laid-down the servo to fit a soft servo-saver: safety first for oldies!
- Tamiya otpion parts sterring assembly
- all new carbon front and rear shock plates (thanks to the anonymous donor who left a cracked stallion chassis in the trashcan  )
- all new carbon brace for the front (old TF-2 chassis; my own)
- new spoiler mount with more down angle
- new can-painted Tamiya desert gator body: unaltered to sit a bit higher and accept the standard battery orientation should I wish to test that.

Yatabe, my buggy is ready to meet you!

PS: sorry for the crappy pictures. Couldn't wait to post something

Last time at the onroad-track, I didn't realize we already got to the finals and it was my turn to drive again.
They were calling for me in japanese and as heard my name I just ran onto the track to corner marshall

Lol. A similar thing happened to me at the first and only BMX competition I have ever entered, I was standing around not paying attention (nothing new there then) when a familiar name came over the tannoy, I thought nothing of it until they kept repeating it and repeating it. It took about 10 repeatitions before I realised it was my name AND they were calling it in English

Really nice work. How does it handle? I bet it can keep up with the newer buggies with that setup you've worked out.

Did you try Academy rear wheels? From my understanding they have a different offset which mirrors the newest Losi/AE wheels (so you dont need the wide adaptors).

Just something to check out.

Academy is Korean, not so popuplar in Japan = don't find it in the LHS.
Anyway the kyosho wheels were easy to get, fairly cheap and I had 4 of those axles and wide hexes I was no longer using. So with 2 used, I got 2 spares on hand: allways good if you plan to race.
The axles and hexes are easy to swap for the stadard kyosho axles actually , so I could try altering the width depending on the track 8)

I am thinking of ordering blue evader wheels for the rear, not sure what the offset is on these.
Pitty they don't have 4WD fronts though:the way I set up the ultima RB5 front, it will accept 4WD rims. This makes it easy to share the wheels and tires with my 4WD ultima.

nice conversion, looks very trick. I really like the A&L gear setup. I'm curious to see how good it will perform against contemporary buggies.

The A&L belt is the part that worries me though: I got no spares for it and it just looks so fragile. On top of that the pressure bearing/spring setup of the clutch is not original. (the original was missing a pressure plate).

I certainly have to try it out before joining Yatabe... If it doesn't work too well there's a couple options: original ultima tranny, stealth or PM Darryl. Stealth is the first one on my list for now: I already have some spare gears for it, easy to get more, and better than the ultima's.

The A&L could then retreat to a street buggy: it's the big jumps of todays off-raod tracks that scare me most

Running the A&L trany with no spares is scary... You should really contact Darryl, he might have spares just sitting around.

It's back!

After a short step back: with original ultima arms to abide by the rules of a vintage meeting, it now returns with the Pro-X arms in the rear and lots of new improvements:

Full-length shocks and assorted springs.
All new front and rear shocktowers and new top-deck
Newly designed lightweight quick-change batteryfixation
Lower mounting position for the electronics
Improved mounting of the rear shocks on the rear arms
Longer universals in the rear with larger offset carriers and the lowest offset wheels that fit.
Cougar 2000 body, with undertray (still accepts the previous body perfectly too)
Motorguard
