I did read that. As I mentioned, the pre-paint prep doesn't have as much to do with a final smooth, glossy finish as the after-paint prep. Even if your body was glass-smooth before painting, you'd still have an orange-peel texture after painting your color & clear coats that would look just like your black body does now. To get from that stage to a baby's-ass-smooth glossy finish is where 75% of the hard work is.
Edit: Removed. I can't link to YouTube at this time.
Edit 2: Rather than tie up this topic with explanations, I PM'd you some YouTube vids showing the wet-sanding and rubbing out techniques, in case you want to put in the work and get a beautiful glossy finish on your Blackfoot. Good luck and enjoy!

HI!... Thanks, but for me it's a RC car/truck body, not a real car. As long as it's the colour I want and there are no runs, it's good enough for me.

Gotcha. My earlier comment was in response to shirochanwrx's question, who was wondering why it looked rough.

Nice. I loved the Blackfoot. It just looked so cool and seemed to go anywhere I pointed it.

I'm with coelacanth, wet sanding and flitting the paint before putting the decals on would have produced a nicer finish. I had the same rough texture issue with one of my projects. I found that I just had the layer on the primer to smooth out the finish before putting the color coats on. But the main thing I found is to not be in a rush. It's easy to get caught up wanting to get it done. The best results are made when you take your time.

HI!... I like the rough finish on it. Makes it more truck like.

HI!... Ya I know. I still have to get a complete set of actual Blackfoot tires. These were left over from a Monster Beetle project.
