Great job !! How did you bend the pipes? Have you heated it? Usually arise in aluminum cracks or breaks !
Thanks!
I use a hand held pipe bender, made for bending 6mm, 4mm and 3mm copper pipes! And I have no problems with cracks at all. The radius is between 13-14 mm.

Iwas lloking at the different tire choices you're trying out. The ultima2 fronts llok right , but for the rear you need something slimmer: maybe a 4WD front wheel and tire?

Great work so far, love the custom fabrication of the tube frame, which really brings this build to another level.

Yes, I have tried out some different tires and wheels:
From left to right:
Pro-Line Dirt Hawgs on Kyosho Pure 10 wheels
Kyosho Datsun step side rear and Rider front on Scorpion wheels
Carsson tires on aluminum wheels
I’m leaning towards Kyosho Datsun step side rear and Rider front on Scorpion wheels… But I’m really open for suggestions guys!

I already thought that's what they were: datsun stepsides. Definitely the best match sofar.
There's some nice scale looking tires and narrow 1.9" wheels on the market again with the trail and crawler scene going on. You may check those out

Very cool.
That cage looks awesome!
As far as wheel choices go, you may have to customize a set, or go with Rough Rider/Buggy Champ type wheels w/aluminum wheel halves.
A set of aluminum wheel halves would match the full scale Centerlines perfectly.

Me like, Lasse!
You got my permission to use that car stand on this one too.
Did you have those rear tires, or do you wanna try out my Dunlops?

A small update!
The hardware store was open, so brought home another meter of 5mm aluminum rod to complete the nerf bars. And I mounted the “KC HiLites”

Now it’s time for the body and the under tray. I was thinking to use the Progress body, but then I have to redo the cage to make it fit the Progress body. Maybe some time in the future…
So at this time I will settle for a simple body, at least the front. The rear part of the body and the under tray will be made with vacuum forming. At first I thought that would be costly and complicated. But I couldn’t be more wrong, it’s rather simple process for a novice. The difficulty lies in making the mould and making it smooth enough, so that the outcome will be satisfactory.
Anny of you guys has any experience of vacuum forming?

I think you could easily fold the body from a thin metal sheet or polystyrene. Looks like you'd only need 3 bends for the main part. You could try a couple in cardboard to test and get it right first.
Any idea on how the originals were made? another way is to make a negative mold and lay-up a body glass-fiberheets impregnated with polyester. I'm sure that was a common method and material for the real buggies too.

That’s the idée, just to fold Lexan. Bob’s buggy had an aluminum body and wing, but sins I trying to do a Kyosho produced buggy, I will go with a Scorpion wing, handmade body and under tray.
Tanks for the input Mr. Ed
