good job, now go paint that shell!!
Hhehee, I did make a 'start' but it seems that the red they use on the box is alot different to the standard red pactra do. I might do it fluo red (same as my XX wheel discs) to match the 'XXT' sticker sheet.

Also, the body that came with it is very scratched up and a little, well, almost mouldy. I tried a little paint on a piece I cut out and the paint didnt go on, that was even after washing it. Its not really an issue though as I am gonna buy a new one instead.

I recently acquired another XXT which was in mint condition, so I borrowed the hydra drive off it :D

and the black front bulkhead...

Ok, so finally I am making progress with the paint. I spent a whole evening trying to match the red for the box art shell, by mixing yellow, oranges & reds, but couldn't quite get it right. I am using Pactra paints, but the standard colours just dont seem bright enough. Turns out I needn't of worried. I took a can of standard Neon Red Fluorescent paint, and simply applied lots of light coats, to ensure even coverage and low an behold, I think the colour looks spot on. i was worried that it would be too pink, but using lots of coats ensures the colour turns more red than pink.

Hopefully in the next week or so I can get the shell cut-out and painted, in the mean time, i've painted the wheel discs to get my motivation going....

Looking good Ben.... can't wait to see how the shell turns out, seems like you are a dab-hand at producing a neat paint job

Inspiration for me to get on with my XXT

Many, many years of practice Dan!!

i just hope the shell sprays up ok. Some of the old lexan discs I've tried reacted with the paint, even after a thorough wash with fairy liquid.

Got a thread for your XXT? If you need any parts/help let me know bud! I have a spare XXT which is MINT, will be putting it up for sale soon, its got titanium turnbuckles, balljoints and MIP steering. It was the first XXT I bought, but took 6 months of hassle to arrive. Shame as its the best 2nd hand car I've ever bought!

Yes I remember you saying about this one.... it was from this sale that those blue foam seals came from?? I don't have a build thread yet for my XXT - to be honest I'm sort of getting through one project at a time, & the truck is a few places down on the list. As for parts, the only parts I can see that would be worthwhile getting is a set of titanium turnbuckles for the rear links... randomly although everything else on the car is G+ spec (Full graphite, nitrided shafts, ballraced steering, CVDs etc) The parts currently fitted are the steel versions that are renowned for bending :|

Yep, thats right, I got a few more worthwhile spares too, like a gear cover - they are rare as hen's teeth!

i need to get this truck done so I can start my G+! I have spare pair of rear Lunsford turnbuckles if you want bud. I managed to source a complete set from DMS for a bargain £12!

Looking forward to seeing your truck - we could have a G+ build off! hahahaaa

Ha ha - a 'G'+ build-off would be cool.... except you're bound to win!

I think I sent you a picture of mine? I got it real cheap, in fact I brought it purely for the RPM gear cover it came with, my plan for it, is to basically re-build/service it, spray & fit the new shell with Graphite+ decals, fit in one of ModelTech's early sensorless brushless systems (that a mate gave to me) & have some budget fun with it!! :D

P.S; i'll PM you regarding the turnbuckles

LOFL! Has it been done on this forum!! It could make for 2 great builds and some higher than normal attention to detail!

I know where I am going with my G+, I think it will be well received. Dan is going in to run his, mine is not even going to be pushed round the living room, unless my boy gets hold of it!

The light was good for photos at the weekend (bright but overcast) so I took the opportunity to take some better pics of my progress. Taken at F10, so I used my tripod to get the right depth of field.
