Well, you guys make it look easy. I don't mind chopping one in half but cutting down the sides looks like more work than I want to take on. I have one the previous owner cut down and swiss cheesed and it looks good but I would not do it myself.

OH SHOOT!!! THEY ARE HARDCORE RC10-PURISTS!!!
Haha!
Okay, not everybody likes the cutted down chassis. But I like it very much. The RC10 (cutted down chassis, or not) is the most beautiful RC-Car ever!
The chassis have now a little more flex and grip on slippery tracks. I also took a RC10T rear-shock-tower and a longer front-shock-tower (I don´t know, what company made this) to fit the RC10B4 shocks.
Cool RC10 community here!
Thanks, guys!
Michael

Nice, but those arms are HUGE wide.. this thing cannot be race legal anymore is it??
Not saying you are even racing it, just a question.

Hello there!
This day was track-day.
My RC10 was driving very good and fast. That was fun!
And, that´s funny, nobody from the track knows this car.
Here are some impressions from this day.
Next week I will be on a race here in Austria with this car.

Hi,
some germans here on the board! Nice!
Ja, ist schon möglich, dass Du schon etwas von mir gehört hast;)
This "drift-thing" is the HPI Drift Assist. It´s a gyro connected to the steering-servo. It helps to drive on slippery tracks. And it´s forbidden for races, because it works so good.
I will make a report of the race in the next weekend. That is very exciting. I drove my last 2WD-race 15 years ago. Haha!

somewhere on dirtoval.com there was an entire thread about drift controlers and mini gyros. i think tower had a futaba micro gryo that is the same identical thing for like 80 or 90 bucks.

Look out what you get: the original stuff (from late 90ies?) was to stop drifting I believe, the new stuff is made to get you drifting (in a controlled way).
Every RC-car magazine in Japan has a big part of its attention focused on drift races now.
I like the cut down chassis too.
I did the same with my boomerang when I was something like 16.
Yep lots of flex and grip on the street tracks, but then they put an artificial bumpy section , and whoop there went my central axle

Finally I replaced the cut down version by a bigwig tub.
For the german guys: Conrad rules!

Yeah, Conrad Electronic. Good place to buy electronic-stuff. Right!
I am back from the first race with my car.
It was a great race! 12th place after qualifying. And later 2nd place in the B-Final. Good result for me and my RC10. The car was great to handle! I could not believe it. So fast!
But I learned some lessons: Look at the pictures

Looks good Michael! Any action pics of the car? I'm thinking I might have to build a copy of that car, it's the best looking tub car I've ever seen!
