Turbo Diesel baby.

Nice 4runner. Now, lets see how long the paint stays nice.

Good for you but you probably just lost 15HP by removing those decals.

Looks pretty clean especially for an area like yours.

i'm still happy as heck with this thing. the only rust on it is on spots of the tubework, i cant describe how clean it is overall.
and its so much more deluxe than the zuk.

on the roof the paint is indeed faded and the clear all but destroyed. i'm considering taking it to a body shop to maybe get fixed or just completely rhinocoated or maybe just the lower half and roof. there is absolutely zero rust on the body... only thing i have to 'fix' is the sunroof, which the guy said was leaking. he couldnt figure it out and ended up just putting window tape over it all to seal it. kinda concerned since he works as a toyota technician.

i took the winch and spare tire mount off. the winch only took about 10 minutes and i was being carefull. somebody with some heavy bolt cutters and a cordless impact could steal that winch in about 30 seconds. when i get my welder back i may put it back on and tack the bolts to the bumper, or swap it with the cheaper winch on the zuk.

nice rig hoopty, I'm a yota guy, so I like a lot.

Love the rock gear, any plans for a snorkel? Could be a lot of fun in some rivers

I've had two tacos so far and I would say I wouldn't own any other truck up I have a lifted 06 Nissan Frontier for work and I must say I like it, but not as much. I'm trying to trade my wife for her 07 taco, but she wont budge.

I think you will be impressed, although I do like the landcruisers more

check out this site, very cool crazy artic yotas

You probably already know about these: http://www.tuffyproducts.com/p-161-104-security-bolt-locker-for-winches-other-bolts.aspx

i'm so not going to wheel this to the point i need a snorkel. its a total mall crawler and occasional tow rig for my zuk.

hoping it can flat tow my zuk without too much trouble. a stock zuk is 3000 pounds and mine has at least 500 pounds crap on it. toyota specs are 5000 max.
i did not know about those. those are cool. most likley keep the winch off and just put it on the night before a wheeling trip or put it on my zuk. makes the car a little less desirable overall with it off.

i'm horribly tempted to sell some stuff and put a stealthy db stereo in this. the cavities under the rear seats and rear panels are enormous, and with no factory spare underneath i could maybe cut out the rear and put a box where it once was. i could also maybe put an 8" midbass where the factory speaker is in the doors and then make some kickpanels for some components.

Odd... I had a quote notification to this post a day or two ago, click on it and it brings me to an old quote.

Still got the 4runner... daily driven it 180k miles and now has 280k on the odometer.

The locker has remained consistent and no reliability problems with it at all. the only time i hate it is on icy streets and parking lots/gas pumps, it just doesn't at all want to listen to the front tires at all.

Hmm maybe a technical hiccup. That's awesome that you still have it these 15 years later. :)

I sold my 93 Chevy C1500 around 2 years after posting about it in this topic. I had it for something like 12 years by that point. If I was in the market for a main mode of transportation these days I'd either buy a truck I could haul with, or something offroad capable. The roads, weather, and traffic are just not indicative of being able to own a car any longer for year-round daily driving usage.

Nice truck. It makes me miss my UZJ100. 3rd gens have such great lines, as does pretty much any late 90's 'Yota.
