How long did it take you to find all the bits here Doug? Did you find them all on eBay or where else, lhs?

I appreciate all the comments guys! I was really excited to put this one together. The Delta parts were the hardest to find but they eventually showed up. I have had the Trinity motor and Advance wheels laying around for a while just waiting for the right build. The gold front arms were from another 834b that I parted out to build this buggy. I think they might be Hot trick but not sure. All of the Delta parts came in one lot from a guy who had them laying around in his shop. I wish he had another chassis as there are enough spare parts to put together another desert conversion. Going to check but they might mount up to a regular 834b or RPS chassis. I wanted to build one of these for about 2 years now and once I ran across the Delta parts a couple weeks back it all came together.
Planning on finishing it up in the next few days. Might paint the yellow bellcranks and battery tray black to better match the chassis. Also need to pick a body to mount up.

Forgot to mention, I need to find a front bumper if anybody has any suggestions. It will need to have fairly wide mounting holes and a decent amount of kick-up. The original RPS bumper would look great but is to narrow to fit the pre-drilled chassis holes. I just bought one of these but not sure if it will look good as it's kind of big,

Made a few updates to the delta dog project. Got hooked up with some vintage aluminum front arms from a really nice guy (thanks Ed). Also added a JG front bumper. Heated it up and gave it more kickup. Just need to add the steering and battery tray.

Thank you for the comments guys!! I have been excited about this project for awhile.
Has anybody tried dying the yellow parts on an 834b? I would like to dye the yellow battery tray and bellcranks black but not sure if they are the correct plastic to accept dye. I would prefer to dye then to paint but I thought I would ask if anybody has had any previous experience.

i rarely comment on car builds, mostly just because im lazy and doing 12 other things at work at the same time, but this one is amazing... love the vintageness of it, and the awesome hopups, im a hopup guy myself, hating building out of the box cars unless its some extraordinarily rare.
this one is something special though... a body will really set that off. looks great!

Doug, maybe avoid using the yellow tray and go with the battery strap like in this thread
http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=6509&start=30
It also has some good info on using different steering bellcranks that i beleive are nylon and should accept dye. I have a feeling the yellow parts won't take a dye very well.
