Yes kyosho did make plastic knucles and still do.

Oooops...my bad. I meant to say that at the time the optima was out, kyosho didn't offer that part in plastic. They only has the cast aluminum.

That goes double for me! I thought I had Yokomo parts on my Optima

that would not work : the bearings of yokomo are 11X5 like Tamiya while the kyosho's are 10x5. Because the 11X5 are thicker and equally spaced the kyosho axle can not protrude enough to press-fit the conical hexes.

I was just looking at this yesterday. Aren't the Yoke bearings 5x10 flanged, not 5x11, on the spindles and hubs? I have no idea what the kyosho ones are.

On the yokomo magnesium hubs (on the 870c), they are 5x10 flanged. I just bought some. There's another type of front hub that looks similar to the magnesiun but it's molded in plastic...these use a 5x10 unflanged bearing.

On the newer yokomo hubs (like the ones used on the yr4) they are 5x10 unflanged.

I agree on the first point, not on the second: 5X11 for works and YR4

Erik, you are correct sir. The yr4 hub does take a 5x11 unflanged bearing.

I placed a 5x10 bearing over the axle and you can still see the edge of the 5x11 bearing:

Damn, 2 mistakes in one thread. That's it....it's time for a major yokomo project.
