I agree.
I'm feelin' a retro-theme'd 70's style heavy red metalflake (like the old Cox gas powered dune buggies) to complement those rims.*
*..of course only if it were mine.....
'Looks like a 70's sand rail to me, I like it!

too much red may be overkill ; I'd stay with a simple white or silver and look for a fitting sticker set. I've seen a Pepsi set that would complement nicely.

Im going to be different and say I actually love those big rear tires on that Ultima, I think it looked sweet how it was before. But I am an Iowa boy, that might be why

I'll second that.
It looks like a late 70's to mid 80's Berrien Buggy sand rail with that set up. The Chevron/paddle/tractor tread tires give it sort of a realistic rail style look.
Other than that, without 'em it would look like just another Ultima w/ pin spike tires. If it's a scale look you're going for, the pin spikes just don't cut it. If it's just a clean RC buggy for bombin' or shelfin', then it doesn't matter much.
I think a solid metallic paint job would contrast nice with the aluminum frame and would balance it out:

Is there a dunebuggy in that picture?
I personally like the lower profile tires on your Ultima. If you could find a set of the smaller 2.0" paddles, now that's a different story.
If you are doing the red theme, I don't think I would use the OE decals. Just dont think the yellow and brown would go well with red.

I would use the red rims and red shock caps with one of the aluminum wings.

I vote for the second version + color, minus the wing.
The wheels look great!
