i think robinson racing had different colored shock oil too, back in the day. could be wrong.

Yup, that stuff was THE oil to run if you raced. Still some of the best oil ever sold for RC cars. It didn't break down silicone o-rings and bladders like the current tech silicone oils do.

I have a collection of 5wt to 140wt at home. Most are new and have never been used. That stuff is probably Losi or Robinson oil.

Hoopty, here's an idea, instead of trying to fix it up, just rebuild it and make a custom monster truck or beach/swamp runner. This way you can continue to run it and not worry about it being a "nice" buggy. Similar to what Ron Jeremy did:

bolink lies with thier 'lowering kit'. when used with thier custom front shock tower its not really that low, actually kinda high... but when used with a normal rc10 front shock tower its too low. i think i'll trim down the original front tower a little to bump to front ride hieght up to match the rear.

i hadda drill new lower shock mounting locations in the trailing arms.

the paddles barely clear the trailing arms.

one of the rear wheels was having a hard time getting over the axle so i gave it a slap, but didnt realize my other hand was grabbing onto the knife-edge rear section of the chassis. cut myself a little...

 When I first replied to this thread I almost typed "don't cut yourself on that chassis", but I didn't want to jinx you. :P
