I've got access to a shot peener (like a sandblaster) and I'm thinking of painting the gold front black. Anyone know what primer works good or paint for that matter? Or should I try something else?
i re-do them all the time. it's alot easier to find used one that new ones. i glass bead then, feather out any scrathes or gouges. if i have to, i'll put a couple coats of primer on them, sand, then paint. i use paint that we have at the shop i work at. it's very close to the look of the black annodizing. it's a satin black.

if the nose plate, or motor plate and chassis tub for that matter, is nice enough to just be stripped and painted, use a metal etching primer to get adhesion to the metal, them just paint over that.
