I think that's about right. I once had one from tamiya with wire control. That one had a moter for each side though; so you could turn.

Born in 1970 like me, I spent my preteens taking apart all my hand-me-down 1960's toys, anything with batteries in them, like..
because I new those little motors and gears were inside and I could use them with my erector set and legos to make my own moving and flashing stuff. That thing could be from anywhere, but it sure does take me back a bit. They didn't last long but things like that were fun with a 9V battery snapped up to it!

Thanks for the conformation guys. Maybe I will put a battery and switch on it and make it a motor lift or something...

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
Surprisingly, despite the good odds that the lot would never get shipped out, I actually received this car and, after seeing it first hand, I'm guessing if it's not a Kyosho with aftermarket hop-ops then it's a well made clone/knock-off. No hand-cut custom parts on it.Mr. ED wrote:Looks like a heavily modified Kyosho spider (the first in line of Touring Force cars)
Basically a turbo optima mid with shorter arms shocks and drive axles.
The arms and chassis plus top-plate, aswell as the moterplate, are all non-original.
Also need help identifying these pan car rear end parts. I'm pretty sure they're not RC12, as marked, but I don't know much about the early versions. The one piece pod, too...would like to know what that's from.

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
I named the parts which aren't original, but I didn't mean they were hand-made. To me they look after-market.
So I'm still pretty sure this is a heavily modded TF-1

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
Was the car called something different when it came out? Google isn't cooperating with searches for "Kyosho TF-1" or "Spider" and mostly I'm just getting links to newer TF models and gas cars.Mr. ED wrote:I named the parts which aren't original, but I didn't mean they were hand-made. Thanks again.

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
Kyosho Spider is the official name. Not to be confused with the later Kyosho Spider EP, of which the name was later changed to Spider TF-2 to avoid confusion, or the other Kyosho Spider (G(as)P(owered)). The original is very hard to find.
The Kyosho SPW option parts with numbers SPW-5 or lower will fit it, as will (obviously) anything for the Optima Mid. There's also a 2-speed for this car (not the one for the TF-2!).
Looking at your car, you've got the original shock towers (the carbon versions for the Spider GP will also fit), steering, steering and camber links, rear uprights, 1 front upright (plastic), c-hubs, and other transmission bits.
Top deck and chassis are custom/aftermarket or maybe for the Optima Mid SWB (there was a carbon chassis for this car from Kyosho, but the design is different).
Aftermarket or custom motor mount not by Kyosho, the original is a plate of aluminium with more cutouts than the Mid motor plate, and the Kyosho option is blue and finned.
Spur holder is not stock.
Arms, I'm tempted to say Eagle. Certainly not Kose, Cross, Phoenix or Starex.

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
Awesome info there. Thank you.
Tore it down and all the important bits are tip top so I'll be rebuilding into a runner. Will start a thread in the Kyosho forums for it in the next couple of days after I gather some more details.

I picket this up from a clearance bin in a model shop. Very dusty, but what is it? It's 12th scale.

Also any idea of it's era? I've got a few candidates that could wear this and i'd like to keep it in the roughly the right age.
Paul.

That is to motorize a Tamiya 1/35 T34 plastic model kit. Not sure why anyone would want to motorize a static model but anyhoo thats what its from.I have had this for a little while but I have no clue what it is. I posted it on another forum and the only guess was it may be a reduction box for a low end RC tank. Does anyone recognize this?

I just bought a greenwood vette body off BLUEGROOVE that looks very similar. May have a look at his eBay page....CAT3K wrote:I picket this up from a clearance bin in a model shop. Very dusty, but what is it? It's 12th scale.
