Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
Mine always was unreliable. But it may have been down to not breaking it in properly, and never getting the hang of the weird tuning needle on the cz-2.

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
My "never ran" Assault has that carb....but the basket case has a cz-r with cz-r carb, even my nitro brute and outlaw rampage have the cz-r carbs, could be the difference, as i have never ran the cz-2 carb. But all 3 if these i mention run like i top, and will idle forever

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
I don't think the Tomahawks have the same wider front as the Turbo Scorpion though (I've got one here but haven't built it yet). What's the deal with these AVC receivers? Do they have some kind of gyro or something?

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
Beautiful restorations!!
I remember looking at the pics of Assaults back when they were released and longing for one as the Scorpion I had was sooo slow (had no knowledge of batteries and motors back then...).
Even made up a complete list of parts I would need to convert my Scorp into an Assault! Glad I never did as it now runs faster than ever after restoring it and now running with LiPo, ESC and a real fast Corally Black 19x1 motor!

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
Small update....the "basket case" still running strong. No issues at all. Always starts right up using the factory onboard glow starter. No broken parts.

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
Awesome thread and fantastic restore. I have a question about the direction of the conrod vs the crank for the Cz-2. In particular, which conrod side faces the crank? Is it the side of the conrod that has a "lower" extension/thick part that faces the crank such that the entire hole in the crank is exposed? Or is it the side of the conrod that has a "higher" extension/thick part that faces the crank? I believe it is the first (lower) that is the right direction. Can you help clarify this? Thanks!

Sorry for delay, havent been on here much lately cause so much goin on. Thanks for kind words! I am a little confused as to your question....if u coud post a pic it would help clarify that rod situation

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
I think I found another way to find out the right rod direction. The rod is still attached to the piston. The big hole in the piston side faces away from the exhaust port, correct? Thanks!
