My outer bearings are snug
However the inner bearing is really sloppy

I'm swapping for a set of original rear hub

tore my re-re down last night, and it looks like the bearings fit snug into the carriers, its the slack in the bearings where im getting my rear wheel slop.

serves me right for digging through parts rigs for bearings.

My bearings are brand spanking new

I remember having to phinagle a lot with the original kit bitd. The guys at the hobby shop just brushed it off as that's normal, take your time, its a hobby. If it was perfect then there is not much "Hobby" in it. That's what we were told and that is how we lived with things. Ya'll have gotten spoiled,

I think all kits should go back to the quality of the 80's. It gives the hobby more meaning.

Mine seemed to go together a whole lot easier than what I remember from back then... Although I have way better tools for the job now rather than the kit tools and the old worn out tools from the junk drawer.

I feel pretty much the same way. You see it a lot when you get a car off Ebay and you find the car is all stiff and whatnot, not due to corrosion or age, but because whoever put it together didn't take the time to shim and adjust.
