the front housing uses small outdrive's with small diff rings in a 94 and i have never seen m2 pitch 94 pulleys, im told 51 m2 tooth are correct so what outdrives then?
It looks like M3 pitch up front to me?
Yes... its been established that my car has the in-correct M3 belts...... As Gary says the M2 pitch belts are correct
Not necessarily. My friend was in 1991 worlds and drove Yokomo there. He said that only a few Yokomos there used 2mm pitch belts (= Hirosaka & Lett) and all others used 3mm belts. It might be same kind of situation here.

Dual wrote: As Peter wrote, the front, rear and centre pulleys on the Yokomo WCS are specific for this car. They are M2 Pitch, 51 Tooth and use the same hardware (diff balls, thrust bearings and diff rings) as the Yokomo Works 93. Part number for the front and rear pulleys is ZC-5031

The rear outdrives are from the Yokomo Works '93.

The front outdrives are specific for the WCS and are not interchangeable with the Yokomo 94 YZ10 because the WCS uses diff rings from the Works 93 and the 94 YZ10 uses 'keyed' diff rings and different M3 33T pulleys. Part number for the WCS front outdrives is ZD-501

The Aluminium Front One-Way Drive Pulley is 22 Tooth. Part number is ZD-674.

The Aluminium Slipper Hub (rear) is also 22 Tooth. Part number is ZD-671.

The front belt on the Yokomo WCS is M2 Pitch 262 Tooth. Part number is ZD-653.

The rear belt on the Yokomo WCS is M2 Pitch 95 Tooth. Part number is ZD-658.

The universal drive shafts are identical in length front and rear for both the WCS and 94 YZ10. The only difference being that the production WCS came with the optional 'Hard' drive shafts.

I hope this is of some assistance.

Vin
This is brilliant information - thank you Vin :D

.... so its the method for locating the diff washers that varies between the WCS & 94 YZ-10 front outdrives. I must admit that, this car being my only Yokomo means that I am un-familiar with the finer detail of the other models

@ Jirka, Vin has kindly listed the parts that came with the WCS kit that was available to the public to buy.... as it was supposed to be a replica of the winning car of Masami it came complete with the M2 belts etc. You are correct that few team drivers ever run the M2 belts & indeed my particular car (which seems to be one of the pre-production cars) Had been converted to M3 belts at some point..... probably due to the owner struggling with slipping M2 belts.

Of cause the problem it seems with the WCS is that there isn't (as far as I know) a standard Yokomo M3 belt that is the correct length should you decide to change - hence mine is a made-up part.

So I wonder which M3 combo is correct for the car then?

I have never tried this set-up but if I had to, I would start off with the following parts-

Yokomo Works '93 Rear Differential (as per kit)

Yokomo YZ10 1994 Version Front Differential (as per kit)

Yokomo ZC-670C Complete Torque Control System

Yokomo ZC-656 Rear Belt

Yokomo ZD-652 Front Belt

Belt tension will be the main concern (especially the front) but there are a few different length belts available to experiment with. I know xxxmain (Jeff) and Bigjeepzz (Jake) have been experimenting. Maybe you could hit them up for some assistance.

DerbyDan wrote: One thing I do know is that the main belt seems to be unique..... & quite a bit longer than the one you sent to me (510mm). As previously described the belt that came with my car appeared to have been made up - its been cut down to get the correct width & seems thicker than a Yokomo Belt... this would tally being that the car should have come with M2 belts so in order to convert to M3 pulleys (like many/most racers would have) a special belt would have been needed - the one that has been re-fitted into my car is 578mm & is branded 'Gates' Powergrip who I believe supplied Schumacher with their belts.
From the previous page

So alongside the non-Yokomo 578mm belt my car is running;

35tooth pulleys both front & rear
15tooth layshaft pulleys
ZC-656 Rear Belt.

Ok, do we have the same rear belt and center pulley, but I have 33t diff gears- I will try to locate that 578 belt!! BTW Dan, those Yokomo decals are all packaged up, but I came up empty on the Novak splash decals

so is that belt 3mm pitch or 2mm pitch? 578mm doesn't divide correctly by 3. so maybe it's 579? either way I can't believe it's that long! that is a very much longer belt! is the wheelbase that much longer? that should make the wheelbase almost 12mm longer than any other yz10.

very cool car be the way, great job so far!

sdp-si sells belts that are too wide, maybe they can be cut down? they don't have 193 tooth in stock, but they have 192.

I thought the 94 YZ10 had longer front driveshafts?

Hey Fakiee,

I think through my wording I have confused you. The front universal drive shafts are longer than the rears on both cars. I meant to say that both cars share the same drive shafts.

Thanks Reg thats great, shame about the 'splash' decal.... but i'm sure there's someone out there with that one :D

Yes that 578mm belt is long & would in theory extend the chassis over a 94 car - although I had this conversation with 'YZ-10' & compared wheelbase measurements but the difference wasn't actually that much (can't remember the actual figures off hand) Off cause the arrangement of the rear wishbone mounts in relation to the mag diff housing could be different also??

The '578' print on the belt I must admit is fairly feint - so perhaps i'll have to sit down in a quiet room & count the teeth LOL!
